No Xbox version of Star Citizen has been announced in the official RSI material reviewed as of October 8, 2026. RSI currently documents the game as a Windows PC title. That does not establish that an Xbox release will never happen; it means there is no confirmed Xbox release date or port to point to now.
Is Star Citizen on Xbox?
No. RSI’s current Game and Launcher Requirements page lists Windows 10 (64-bit) or Windows 11 and PC hardware, and the official material reviewed contains no Xbox release announcement. RSI’s New Players support index likewise points newcomers to PC system requirements and the RSI launcher.

This is a statement about what RSI has publicly documented, not a claim about private plans. Without an announcement, there is no confirmed Xbox edition, release date, or supported way to play the game on Xbox.
What platforms does RSI currently document?
The requirements RSI lists are for Windows PCs, not an Xbox console. The page was updated December 17, 2025, and specifies:
#1 Best Overall
- Legend perfected: Modern design with a matte basalt black finish in an optimized chassis with customizable AlienFX lighting zones, including the striking stadium lighting.
- Game changing graphics: Step into the future of gaming and creation with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 graphics, powered by NVIDIA Blackwell architecture.
- Marathon gaming unlocked: This high-performance technology ensures clean energy is consistently available, unleashing the top-level power of Intel Core Ultra 7 265F processor as you game, livestream, and multi-task for hours on end.
- Total command: Alienware Command Center software allows you to create and edit AlienFX lighting across the ecosystem, choose and monitor your performance mode across distinct power states, and create custom gaming profiles for your whole library.
- Dell Services: 1 Year Onsite Service provides support when and where you need it. Dell will come to your home, office, or location of choice, if an issue covered by Limited Hardware Warranty cannot be resolved remotely.
- Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit with the latest Service Pack, or Windows 11. RSI says Linux and macOS are not currently supported.
- Graphics: A DirectX 11.1-compatible graphics card with 4 GB of RAM.
- Processor: A quad-core CPU supporting AVX, AVX2, and FMA3; RSI gives Intel i7 Haswell or later and AMD Excavator or later as examples.
- Memory: 16 GB or more of system RAM.
- Storage: An SSD with at least 150 GB of space.
These are published PC requirements, not an estimate of the hardware an Xbox port would need. RSI’s requirements page says, “We do not currently support Linux or macOS Operating Systems.” Read RSI’s requirements.
What did RSI say about consoles?
In an Updated FAQ dated December 3, 2012, RSI answered a question about platforms by saying Star Citizen was a PC game and could not be played on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or Wii U. That is a historical statement about consoles from that generation. It is not a current announcement about Xbox Series X|S, and it does not establish that a future Xbox version is impossible.

How do players access Star Citizen now?
RSI’s multiplayer guide, updated July 27, 2026, says a Game Package that includes Star Citizen must be on an RSI account to play its game modules. The guide describes Arena Commander as offering single-player and multiplayer options for open flying, combat, dogfighting, and racing. This is PC-game access guidance; it does not indicate console availability. See RSI’s multiplayer options guide.

That account and pledge process is not an Xbox release announcement. Read the game-access pledge guidance.

Should you wait for an Xbox release?
If you want to play Star Citizen now, the confirmed route in RSI’s documentation is a supported Windows PC that meets its listed requirements, with access through an RSI account. Waiting for Xbox means waiting on an unannounced possibility: the available official information does not confirm that RSI is developing or planning a console port.
Because platform plans can change, check RSI’s official announcements and support pages for any future update. Until RSI announces an Xbox version, treat claims of a release date or confirmed port as unverified.
