Yes—Riot has said it is exploring more stories set in the League of Legends universe, but no specific follow-up series has been confirmed with a title, release date, platform, or cast. Arcane itself was planned as a two-season story, and Riot co-founder Marc Merrill clarified that references to Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia meant regions under exploration—not three announced shows.
What has Riot confirmed about more League of Legends shows?
Riot has publicly described plans to develop more screen stories based on its games and lore. That establishes an ongoing creative ambition, not a confirmed production schedule or a list of greenlit shows.
In an August 15, 2024 announcement, Riot said Arcane co-creator Christian Linke would lead its animation studio in collaboration with Fortiche Production. It also said Brian Wright would lead a live-action studio and had been developing a slate of potential projects based on Riot’s lore and narrative. Riot’s announcement described development leadership and potential projects; it did not name a new show or say one had been greenlit. Riot’s studio announcement
Linke also spoke about further stories in a November 2024 interview, calling them “a bunch of new fallout projects” and saying Riot wanted to tell stories about different regions and characters. He described a range of possible tones, from whimsical to serious and dark. Those comments outlined the ambition at the time, rather than announcing a particular project. Does Arcane season two end the story?
Yes. Linke said Arcane had a specific ending in mind from the beginning and that its story “wraps up with this second season.” He also called Arcane the beginning of a larger storytelling journey with Fortiche. The distinction matters: Riot’s wider storytelling plans do not amount to a promise of Arcane season three. Netflix Tudum’s coverage of the final chapter
Are Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia getting separate shows?
Not according to the clarification from Riot co-founder Marc Merrill. Linke had discussed Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia as regions Riot might explore. Merrill said Linke did not mean three separate shows: “We are exploring a bunch of different shows (and games).” A region being considered is not the same as a confirmed series set there, and the comments do not establish a one-region-per-show plan. Could the next project be a series or a movie?
Linke said Riot was exploring both series and movies, but he did not connect either format to a named project. He described the work as character-focused and emphasized finding the right people, vision, idea, and story. In the same GamesRadar+ interview, he said, “That’ll take years and once we have confidence that something’s happening, we’ll talk more about it.” That is a statement about the development process—not a release estimate for an announced project. Linke has also expressed interest in exploring the more whimsical side of Riot’s fictional universe. That was a creative preference, not confirmation of a Bandle City story or any other setting. ComicBook.com’s interview with Linke
What is still unknown about the next League of Legends adaptation?
The available comments and announcements do not establish the next project’s title, format, setting, characters, cast, platform, production stage, or release date. Linke’s specific comments about the slate are from 2024, so they describe what Riot said it was exploring then—not a verified production update for 2026. A future update from Riot or a distributor would be needed to confirm what has moved forward.
