What combat looks like in Skull and Bones

What you can do on land
Land activity is separate from the naval combat system. Ubisoft’s guide says players can walk and run, socialize, interact with NPCs, and craft weapons and equipment. Those activities do not establish that players can use swords to fight enemies or duel one another. Ubisoft’s player guide

What boarding means
Boarding is a crew manoeuvre against an opposing ship. Ubisoft says the target must be vulnerable and sufficiently damaged; boarding can let you take its loot before sinking it. The description concerns a crew action during ship combat, not an on-foot sword duel. Ubisoft’s boarding explanation

How to choose a fighting style
The combat choices Ubisoft documents are about ships and their weapons. Weapons vary in range, damage, reload time, ammunition use, projectile trajectory and travel time, and area damage. For example, demi-cannons are suited to close range, while the Giant Ballista is a long-range weapon that takes longer to aim. Ubisoft’s loadout guide
So if you want close-quarters action, the documented option is to bring a close-range ship weapon—not to draw a sword on foot.
