A new Halo game is confirmed, but it has not been announced as Halo 6. Xbox said on September 22, 2026, that Activision will develop “the next Halo title.” The announcement gave no title or release date, so whether the game will be called Halo 6 remains unknown. Halo: Campaign Evolved is a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, not that new sequel.
Has Halo 6 been announced?
No. Xbox’s September 22, 2026 announcement confirms development of a next Halo title, but it does not call the game Halo 6. The announcement also does not give its release date, story, platforms, or say whether it will continue Halo Infinite’s narrative. Those details remain unannounced in the official statement. Xbox Wire’s announcement describes the project as “the next Halo title.”

Who is developing the next Halo game?
Xbox says Activision will develop the next Halo title, led by a new, purpose-built team separate from its ongoing development and plans for Call of Duty. Xbox also says a small team at Halo Studios will continue supporting the Halo community and games already in market. The announcement assigns development responsibility but does not provide further details about the game itself.

What did Halo Studios announce in 2024?
In October 2024, Halo Studios said it was working on multiple projects and building the next generation of Halo with Unreal Engine 5. That announcement established that several projects were in progress, but it did not name or announce Halo 6. The studio also clarified that Project Foundry was for research and training—not a game or a technology demo.
