Windrose entered Early Access on April 14, 2026, for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Its full 1.0 release date has not been announced. Windrose’s Early Access release date was April 14, 2026, according to the official news page. The game is available on Steam and the Epic Games Store. That date marks the start of Early Access, not the launch of the full 1.0 version.

There is no confirmed 1.0 release date on the developer-provided Steam page. Steam currently estimates that the game will remain in Early Access for 1.5 to 2.5 years. That is an estimate, not a promised schedule or a confirmed calendar window for version 1.0.

What did the developers mean by “confident enough”?
On February 25, 2026, Windrose Crew responded in the game’s official Discord after fans expected a release date following a trailer. As reported by Christopher Livingston at PC Gamer that day, the team said: “When we feel confident enough, we will announce the release date. I promise, we are not holding this information to tease your anticipation. We are holding it because we want to lock this in firmly and ship the game on time and in [the] best condition possible.”
The team also said, “But now is not the time to do it,” and asked fans to “please, let us cook more.” The comments referred to waiting until the team could commit to a release schedule and deliver the game in good condition. They were made before Windrose’s Early Access launch, so they should not be read as a current statement that the game has yet to release.
What does Early Access include, and when might 1.0 arrive?
Steam’s developer-provided page describes the current Early Access game as including three biomes, roughly 30 procedurally generated islands, more than 90 handcrafted points of interest, and three ships. It also lists ship combat and boarding, building, crafting, progression, and optional co-op. The developer says the main story takes around 50–70 hours, depending on playstyle; these are the game’s own descriptions, not independent review findings.
The Steam page says the planned full version will add “around 50% more content.” That is a development plan, not a guarantee or a measured count of finished features. The page’s 1.5-to-2.5-year Early Access estimate likewise does not establish when 1.0 will arrive; no exact full-release date is listed.
Where can you play Windrose?
The official site lists Steam and the Epic Games Store as PC storefronts. Windrose’s April 13, 2026 launch post listed the base game at $29.99 and a Supporter Bundle at $39.99. At the time of access, Steam listed the base game at $29.99 and a bundle at $37.98; storefront presentation and prices can change, so check the listing for the current amount.
Before launch, Windrose reported more than 1.5 million wishlists and 800,000 demo players. Those figures were reported by the developer on April 13, 2026, and describe the audience before Early Access began.
