What should I check if Winter White does not apply correctly?
Most failures come from treating the package as one file when it is actually a theme plus separately installed components. Check these points in order.
The wallpaper changed, but the cursor did not
Confirm that Install.inf was installed from the extracted “Cursors and Screensaver” location, not opened inside a compressed archive. Then return to Personalization > Change Mouse Pointers and choose Winter White explicitly. If that scheme is absent, Windows did not register the pointer files; do not assume that the successful wallpaper change means the cursor installation succeeded.

Reinstall Install.inf, check for a permission prompt, and reopen the screen-saver dialog. If the entry still does not appear, the component may not be compatible with that Windows installation or may have been blocked by security software. The publisher does not provide a supported Windows 10/11 path for this legacy screen saver.
The package opens but the look is incomplete
Windows can apply the wallpaper portion while leaving the pointer or screen saver at their previous values. Select all three pieces manually and verify each one with a preview before closing Personalization.

Is the Winter White download safe?

Can I use Winter White on Windows 10 or Windows 11?
There is no verified evidence that the original .themepack, Install.inf or FallingSnow screen saver works unchanged on Windows 10 or Windows 11. Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025, and Windows 11 uses newer personalization surfaces. The safest expectation is partial compatibility at best: the images may remain useful, while the legacy installer and screen saver may fail or be blocked.

On supported current systems, themes are managed through Settings > Personalization > Themes or the Microsoft Store. A practical Windows 10/11 rebuild
- Keep the original archive quarantined until your security scan finishes.
- Extract only the wallpaper images for separate use if the archive exposes them. The related Windows Club guidance specifically notes that Windows 7 theme wallpapers could be extracted and used independently.
