Witchbrook is announced for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, the original Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PS5. There is no announced PS4 version. Chucklefish has scheduled the witch-life sim and social RPG for January 28, 2027, so these are announced platforms rather than versions available or independently performance-tested today. The publisher’s current platform list is the safest reference because older pages may still show superseded timing.
The important distinction is between an explicitly announced edition and assumed backward compatibility. In particular, the original Switch listing is marked untested for compatibility on Switch 2; that does not confirm that a purchased Switch copy will run on Nintendo’s newer console.

Platform information comes from Chucklefish’s current fact sheet and its release-date announcement. The US price is the publisher’s announced launch price; regional pricing has not all been published.
This is a platform-availability table, not a performance ranking. No console-specific frame-rate target, resolution, loading-time measurement or graphics-mode comparison has been announced. A supported console should therefore be understood as one for which a version is planned, not one with a guaranteed technical profile.

Is Witchbrook coming to PS4 or PS5?
PS5 is confirmed; PS4 is not announced. Chucklefish’s October 2026 release announcement adds a PS5 version for day one, while the publisher’s complete current platform list omits PS4.
“Not announced” is more precise than “impossible.” The available information does not establish that a later PS4 port could never happen; it only means you should not buy or keep a PS4 on the assumption that Witchbrook will receive one. If you own a PlayStation and want the announced console version, PS5 is the supported generation.

The scheduled date applies to the announced PS5 release. It is not a promise that a PS4 build will appear later, and no PS4 performance, resolution or frame-rate information has been published.
Do not infer PS4 access from the fact that other games support cross-generation PlayStation releases. Witchbrook’s current list names PS5 specifically, and there is no statement that a PS5 purchase includes a PS4 entitlement or that a PS4 can run the PS5 edition. Check the PlayStation store page for the exact product label when preorders or launch sales open.
Does Witchbrook support Xbox One?
Yes. Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S are both announced platforms. The publisher lists both generations, and the Xbox store listing also identifies Xbox One and Series X|S.
This matters for owners of the older Xbox console: you do not need to upgrade to a Series X or Series S merely to reach an announced Witchbrook version. The announcement identifies console support, not a performance parity claim. No official Xbox-specific frame-rate, resolution, loading-time or feature comparison is available, so treat the two generations as supported platforms rather than assuming identical technical settings.

Xbox owners should also distinguish the console generation from the subscription question. Having an Xbox One or Series console establishes hardware eligibility for the announced versions; it does not by itself establish that the game is included in a particular Game Pass plan. If you prefer to own the game, the announced US$24.99 price is the only confirmed launch-price figure so far, with regional amounts still to come.
Is Witchbrook coming to the original Switch or only Switch 2?
Both Nintendo generations have announced versions. Nintendo has a dedicated digital listing for the original Switch showing January 28, 2027, and a separate listing for Nintendo Switch 2 shows the same scheduled date.
Do not collapse those announcements into a backward-compatibility assumption. Nintendo marks compatibility of the original-Switch listing on Switch 2 as untested. That label does not say the game will fail, but it also is not confirmation that a digital or eventual physical Switch copy will run on Switch 2. If you are buying specifically for Switch 2, use the separate Switch 2 listing when it is available in your region.

The original Switch listing describes one player on a single system and one to four players online. That is a console-play description, not a claim that four people can share one Switch locally.
The separate listings are especially important for buyers comparing editions, prices and save behavior. No cross-buy, save-transfer or upgrade policy between the original Switch and Switch 2 versions has been announced. Until Nintendo or Chucklefish explains those policies, assume only that each named listing represents the edition being sold on that storefront.
When does Witchbrook release, and what will it cost?
The announced release date is January 28, 2027. Chucklefish’s October 15, 2025 update had moved an earlier Winter 2025 target into 2026; pages that still present 2025 or 2026 as the current launch window are outdated. A scheduled date can still change, so confirm the publisher’s release page if you are making a purchase decision far ahead of launch.
The announced US launch price is US$24.99. Chucklefish says additional regional prices will follow, so the dollar figure should not be converted into a guaranteed local price. No separate console-generation surcharge has been announced.

The price is a launch-price announcement, not evidence that every storefront will show the same tax-inclusive total. Currency conversion, local taxes and store rules can affect the amount displayed in your country. There is also no announced premium for the Switch 2, Series X|S or PS5 editions, and no confirmed discount or upgrade path for owners of another console edition.
The initial launch is described as digital. That means the currently useful purchase decision is which supported storefront matches your hardware. Physical Standard and Collector’s Editions are planned later, but their price, release date and platform coverage are not yet available.
How does Witchbrook multiplayer work on consoles?
Witchbrook is described as a witch-life sim and social RPG with online co-op for up to four players. The available console listings distinguish online play from same-system play.
- Original Nintendo Switch: one player on a single system, or one to four players online according to the Nintendo listing.
- PlayStation: online play requires PlayStation Plus, as stated on the PlayStation listing.
- Nintendo Switch: online play is associated with a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
- Local four-player co-op: not announced; do not advertise four-player couch multiplayer.
The four-player figure is an online maximum supplied by Chucklefish, not a promise that every console mode or every activity supports four simultaneous participants.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteNothing currently confirms cross-play between Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and Switch 2, nor does anything confirm cross-progression. If your group owns different consoles, do not assume everyone can join the same online session until the platform stores or the publisher provide that detail. The safe statement is simply that online co-op is planned for up to four players, with the relevant platform subscription required where the store specifies one.
Will Witchbrook get a physical edition?
Chucklefish says physical Standard and Collector’s Editions are in development for a period after the initial digital launch. The publisher has not yet announced which platforms will receive discs or cartridges, which retailers will stock them, or when preorders will open.
That means a Switch cartridge, PS5 disc, Xbox disc, retailer preorder or collector’s box is not currently confirmed. A future physical announcement may clarify platform coverage, but it should not be inferred from the existence of the announced digital editions.

The publisher’s wording is: “A formal physical edition announcement will be communicated at a later date, alongside more information on platforms and special editions!” Until that announcement appears, the digital listings are the only platform-specific purchase information to rely on.
If you are searching for hardware rather than a game copy, a Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5 is relevant only when you lack one of the announced systems. No Witchbrook-specific accessory, repair product or licensed merchandise has been confirmed, so avoid treating unrelated listings as official game products.
How should I check compatibility before buying?
Use the exact console generation and edition, rather than a broad search for “Xbox” or “Switch.” This avoids the two main errors in the current announcements: treating PS4 as confirmed because PS5 is supported, and treating Switch 2 compatibility as automatic for the original Switch listing.
- Identify your hardware. Record whether you have PS4 or PS5, Xbox One or Series X|S, the original Switch or Switch 2.
- Match it to an explicit announcement. PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, original Switch and Switch 2 are announced. PS4 is not.
- Choose the matching digital listing. For Nintendo, distinguish the original-Switch listing from the separate Switch 2 listing.
- Check online requirements. Online co-op needs the relevant Nintendo Switch Online or PlayStation Plus service; local play is not advertised as four-player.
- Check the date and price in your territory. January 28, 2027 and US$24.99 are the current headline figures, while regional pricing may differ.
- Recheck close to launch. Confirm the date, regional price, subscription details and any physical-edition information on the publisher or platform store page before paying.
This checklist is also useful if you are buying a console for the game. Choose the least expensive supported system that fits your other games and multiplayer needs; there is no published evidence that a more powerful console offers a specific Witchbrook advantage.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is still unknown about the console versions?
The announcements establish platform availability, a scheduled date, a US price and broad multiplayer support. They do not establish console-specific frame rates, resolutions, loading times, save-transfer rules, cross-play, cross-progression or feature parity between generations.
They also do not confirm whether an eventual physical edition will span every announced platform. Those omissions are normal for a game still awaiting launch, but they are reasons to avoid buying based on unverified technical or cross-generation assumptions.
There is likewise no confirmed statement about a PS4 edition, a PS5-to-PS4 entitlement, a Switch-to-Switch 2 upgrade, or whether Xbox Smart Delivery applies. Those are separate commercial and technical policies, not automatic consequences of listing multiple generations.

What changed from older coverage?
Older articles may refer to Winter 2025 or a generic 2026 window. The current announcement supersedes those dates with January 28, 2027. Older lists may also omit Xbox One, the original Switch or Switch 2; the publisher’s current fact sheet now names those platforms explicitly.
Bottom line: which console should you use?
If you have PS4 only, Witchbrook has no announced version for that console. The confirmed PlayStation route is PS5. Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S are both announced, as are the original Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. For Nintendo owners, select the listing for your exact generation rather than assuming the original Switch edition has been certified for Switch 2.
The game is scheduled for January 28, 2027, at an announced US launch price of $24.99, with online co-op for up to four players and platform subscriptions required for online play where specified. Treat physical editions, regional prices, cross-play and technical performance as open details until the publisher and platform stores provide them.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Witchbrook included with Xbox Game Pass on every tier?
Chucklefish has announced day-one Xbox Game Pass availability, but the announcement does not name the qualifying tier. Check the Xbox subscription listing near release rather than assuming that all Game Pass plans include it.
Can four people play Witchbrook together on one Nintendo Switch?
The original-Switch listing specifies one player on a single system and one to four online. It does not announce four-player local or couch co-op.
Does owning the original Switch version guarantee access to a Switch 2 version?
No. Nintendo marks the original-Switch listing’s compatibility on Switch 2 as untested, while a separate Switch 2 listing has been announced. Treat the two listings as distinct until Nintendo provides a definitive compatibility statement.

The Bottom Line
Witchbrook is announced for PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, the original Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, but not PS4. The scheduled date is January 28, 2027, with a US$24.99 launch price. Buy for the exact console listing you own, and do not assume Switch 2 compatibility, cross-play or physical editions until they are formally confirmed.
