No—Wrath of the Machine is not currently a Bungie-released activity in Destiny 2. The October 14, 2026 footage reported by Paul Tassi shows community modder isinternets running part of the 2016 Destiny raid in the Destiny 2 engine, with Flummoxed porting its weapons. It is an unofficial fan implementation, not a live-game update, and it has no announced release date.

The clip demonstrates the opening voltage-charge encounter leading to Vosik, but the reported project still needed fixes to enemy spawns, lighting and other systems. Bungie’s broader plan to bring back vaulted destinations, campaigns and raids does not specifically confirm Wrath of the Machine.

Is Wrath of the Machine in Destiny 2 right now?

No. The footage is an engine demonstration from a community project, not content available in the retail game. Paul Tassi’s October 14, 2026 report identifies isinternets as the modder who placed Wrath of the Machine into Destiny 2 and Flummoxed as the collaborator who ported the raid’s weapons.

The recorded section begins with the voltage-charge encounter and leads toward Vosik. That proves an encounter can run inside Destiny 2’s technology, but it does not establish that the complete raid is finished, stable or accessible to ordinary players. The contemporaneous explainer explicitly says the clip cannot be played in retail Destiny 2.

What did the fan project actually build?

A fast engine port, not a finished release

Tassi’s report says the work shown was completed in roughly a week. It also says the creators still had to address enemy spawns, lighting and other systems. A short development timeline therefore describes the reported build’s pace, not a production-ready launch.

A larger package was proposed

The creators discussed a broader package containing Wrath of the Machine, the Plaguelands, and story content and raids spanning Destiny 1 through Shadowkeep. That proposal is part of the same community effort; it is not a description of Bungie’s roadmap or an announcement of a downloadable product.

In a message directed at Bungie, isinternets wrote: “Also bungie if you want, get in contact, will send you native pkgs to go implement it in live.” The offer shows that the modder would like Bungie to use the work, but no source reports that Bungie accepted it.

Did Bungie bring Wrath of the Machine back?

There is no evidence of a Bungie release, official download or live-game activity for this port. A January 2025 report from Destructoid quoted Bungie Global Community Lead Dylan Gafner describing a Wrath of the Machine port as not happening “any time soon.”

  • Unprecedented variety of FPS gameplay that redefines the genre and breaks traditional conventions of story, cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes.

That comment came after Vault of Glass, Crota’s End and King’s Fall had returned to Destiny 2, making Wrath the prominent original Destiny raid still absent from the reprised lineup. It explains the community interest, but it is not a promise that the raid will never return.

Bungie’s September 2026 discussion of content unvaulting says destinations, campaigns and raids are planned to return for free, while seasons are excluded. The discussion does not name Wrath of the Machine and gives no date for it. A general unvaulting policy should therefore not be read as confirmation of this specific raid.

How does the fan implementation differ from an official return?

The distinction is easiest to see by comparing authority, access and support rather than treating every clip as a release announcement.

Question Community implementation shown in 2026 footage Official Bungie return
Who controls it? Community modder isinternets, with Flummoxed credited for weapon ports. Bungie would have to ship and document it.
Where can it be accessed? Engine footage; the report says it is not playable in retail Destiny 2. A Bungie update would make it available through the supported game.
How complete is it? Reported footage covers the opening voltage-charge encounter toward Vosik; fixes were still required. No official version has been announced, so completeness is not stated.
Who supports it? No Bungie support, service guarantee or account-safety policy is attached to the fan build. Support terms would depend on Bungie’s eventual release documentation.
What multiplayer access exists? Not stated by the cited reports. Not stated because Bungie has not announced a return.
When can players get it? No official release date. No confirmed date.

What is Wrath of the Machine, and why does its absence matter?

Bungie’s official Years of Destiny timeline places Wrath of the Machine in Destiny’s Year 3, as part of the Rise of Iron expansion. Destinypedia records its original release as September 23, 2016, in Old Russia.

The raid’s story objective was to end the SIVA crisis by defeating Devil Splicer leader Aksis, Archon Prime. Destinypedia lists a one-to-six-player format and the raid exotic Outbreak Prime. Those details belong to the original Destiny activity, not to the unfinished Destiny 2 footage.

Because three other original Destiny raids have already been reprised in Destiny 2, Wrath is a conspicuous omission for veteran players. That historical gap helps explain why a fan-made engine port drew attention even without a playable release.

Can you play the fan-made port or buy access to it?

Not through a supported retail-Destiny-2 route. The reported clip is not an official download, and no release date or public installation method is established. Do not treat a video, screenshot or proposed package as a product you can safely add to your account.

The official way to experience the raid is its original Destiny: Rise of Iron release, subject to the platform, edition and regional availability of that older game. Owning or locating Rise of Iron does not unlock a Wrath of the Machine port inside Destiny 2.

For the fan project, wait for a clear statement from its creators that identifies a distribution method, supported build and multiplayer expectations. Until then, unofficial files may be incomplete, incompatible with the live client or unsupported by Bungie.

What would confirm an official Destiny 2 return?

A genuine return would need more than footage running in the engine. Look for Bungie’s own announcement, an identified game update or patch note, and a visible activity listing in the supported Destiny 2 client. Those signs would establish authority and availability; a creator’s concept, invite or work-in-progress clip cannot.

Frequently Asked Questions

Did Bungie accept the modder’s offer to provide native package files?

No acceptance or integration has been reported. The message to Bungie was an invitation to obtain the files, not confirmation that Bungie received, reviewed or incorporated them.

How can I tell whether a Wrath of the Machine video is official?

Check whether Bungie published the announcement and whether the activity appears in the current Destiny 2 client or its patch notes. A video labeled as an engine port, mod or fan implementation should be treated as unofficial even if it looks authentic.

Does the one-week build mean the whole raid is nearly ready?

No. The reported week describes how quickly the shown work was assembled, while the same report identifies unresolved spawning, lighting and system issues. It provides no schedule for completing or distributing a full raid.
