wzgdip32.dll is a 32-bit file. That matters even on 64-bit Windows. A 32-bit application needs its compatible 32-bit components, while a 64-bit application uses 64-bit components. Some later WinZip installations include a related file named WzGDIP64.dll, but it is not a substitute for wzgdip32.dll. Installing or copying a 64-bit DLL cannot satisfy a 32-bit import.
There is no reliable evidence that this file ships with Windows, Visual C++ Redistributable, DirectX, or .NET. Enabling Windows Features or installing those runtimes at random is therefore not the right first move.

Start with the exact program named in the error. Do not assume that WinZip is responsible simply because the filename is associated with WinZip.
- Note the application name in the error window.
- Open Start, type the application name, right-click it, and select Open file location.
- In File Explorer, right-click the shortcut and select Properties.
- Check the Target field to find the executable path.
- Open that program folder and search for
wzgdip32.dll.
You can also search the computer:
- Press Windows key + E.
- Select This PC.
- Type
wzgdip32.dllin the search box. - Compare every result with the folder of the application that fails.
A legitimate historical copy would normally be beside the application that loads it. A copy in C:WindowsSystem32, C:WindowsSysWOW64, a temporary folder, or an unrelated startup directory deserves additional scrutiny.
If the error appears only when launching WinZip, treat WinZip as the owner. If it appears in an older program that contains WinZip components, repair that parent program instead.
Fix 2: Repair or reinstall WinZip or the affected application
Reinstallation is the strongest fix because it restores the correct file together with its dependencies, configuration, and matching architecture.

- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for WinZip.
- Select the three-dot menu beside the matching installation.
- Choose Uninstall and complete the wizard.
- Restart Windows.
- Obtain the installer from the official WinZip product source or use the original installation media for the legacy version.
- Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator.
- Complete setup, then restart Windows again.
- Launch WinZip and confirm whether the error has stopped.
Windows 10 uses Settings > Apps > Apps & features for the equivalent uninstall screen. The Control Panel route is also available through Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program.
If more than one WinZip version is installed, repair the version whose executable produces the error. Failed upgrades can leave multiple installations with different program folders.
If ordinary reinstall does not work
A stubborn historical installation may retain damaged application data.
- Uninstall WinZip normally.
- Restart Windows.
- In File Explorer, enable Hidden items from View.
- Check for the leftover
C:ProgramDataWinZipfolder. - Do not delete it unless ordinary uninstall and reinstall have already failed and you are prepared to lose stored application settings or licensing information.
- Restart again.
- Install the correct WinZip version from its official installer.
A current WinZip download may target modern 64-bit Windows and may not include the historical 32-bit wzgdip32.dll. If the failing program is an old 32-bit release, use its original installer or the vendor’s support channel for that release rather than forcing a newer DLL into the old folder.

If a different application displays the error, repeat the same process through that application’s own installer. Reinstalling WinZip will not repair a private copy that belongs to another program.

Fix 3: Check Windows Security quarantine
Antivirus software can remove an application file, including a legitimate file that has been detected incorrectly. It can also remove a malicious replacement. Do not restore the file solely because the application says it is missing.
- Open Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Review recent detections for
wzgdip32.dllor the affected application. - Open a detection to inspect its path and status.
- If the path is unexpected, leave the item quarantined and select the available scan or removal action.
- Run Scan options > Full scan.
- Reinstall the affected application from its official installer.
Only consider restoring a quarantined file after confirming all of the following:
- It came from the expected WinZip or application directory.
- The parent application was legitimately installed.
- The file’s digital signature and publisher information are consistent with that installation.
- A current Windows Security scan does not identify the file as a threat.
Microsoft warns that allowing a detected file can expose the device if the detection is genuine. Reinstalling from the publisher is safer than restoring an uncertain copy.

A file with the right name is not automatically the right file.
- Right-click the file in File Explorer and select Properties.
- Review the General tab for its location.
- Open Details and check the product or file description when available.
- Open Digital Signatures if that tab is present.
- Select a signature and choose Details to check whether Windows reports it as valid.
- Compare the location with the executable that produces the error.
For a 32-bit application on 64-bit Windows, the application commonly resides under C:Program Files (x86), although installers can use other paths. Do not move the DLL between System32, SysWOW64, and an application folder. Those directories are not interchangeable storage locations, and manual placement can create DLL search-order and hijacking problems.
If the file is in a temporary directory, a user profile startup folder, or an unrelated application folder, quarantine it and perform a full scan. A familiar publisher name in file properties is not enough to establish that an unexpected copy is safe.
Fix 5: Do not use a random DLL download
Downloading wzgdip32.dll from an unverified DLL site is risky because the file may contain malware, match a different WinZip build, use the wrong architecture, or lack required dependencies. Copying it into System32 or SysWOW64 can also cause Windows to load the wrong file for another program.
The safe sources are:
- The official WinZip installer for the matching release.
- The original installer or recovery media for the application that shows the error.
- The application vendor’s support channel.
Restore the complete application instead of replacing one file in isolation. That preserves the expected version, neighboring files, permissions, and configuration.
Fix 6: Skip regsvr32 unless the vendor specifically requires it
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer, commonly used by COM or ActiveX components. wzgdip32.dll is documented as a private WinZip wrapper, not as a component that users normally register.
Running a command such as:
regsvr32 wzgdip32.dll
will not recreate a missing file and may produce an error stating that the entry point was not found. Use the parent application’s installer instead. Only run regsvr32 if the software vendor explicitly documents registration for that exact file and architecture.
Fix 7: Repair Windows components only for wider corruption
DISM and System File Checker repair Windows component-store and protected system-file problems. They will not normally recreate a private WinZip DLL.

- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Run this command and wait for it to finish:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test the affected application again.
If DISM reports that it could not repair the image, restart and run it again after Windows Update is functioning. If SFC reports that it found and repaired corrupt files, restart before testing. If both complete successfully but the same WinZip error remains, return to the application reinstall rather than repeating system repair indefinitely.

Do not enable optional Windows Features merely because a DLL error mentions graphics. GDI+ is a Windows framework, but this particular wrapper is an application file.
Fix 8: Check drivers only when the timing points there
A graphics driver is not the normal source of wzgdip32.dll, but a driver update or rollback can expose an older application’s compatibility problem. Check drivers only if the error began immediately after a display, chipset, storage, or Windows update.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters and inspect the listed graphics device.
- Right-click it and select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Note the provider and date.
- Use Update Driver to search automatically, or obtain the driver from the hardware manufacturer.
- If the problem began after an update and Roll Back Driver is available, consider rolling back.
- Restart Windows and test the application.
If the error continues, reinstall the parent application even if the driver operation completes successfully.

Check these conditions in order:
- Confirm that you reinstalled the application named in the error, not merely WinZip.
- Check the shortcut’s Target path for an older copy in another directory.

- Confirm that the replacement is the correct 32-bit application or component.
- Review Windows Security Protection history again.
- Check Event Viewer under Windows Logs > Application for the failing executable and any named dependency.
- Check disk health if files repeatedly disappear or become corrupt.
- If the issue began after a recent software installation or update, use System Restore from Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore and select a restore point from before the change.
System Restore changes system configuration without normally removing personal files, but it does not replace a missing application installation. If the program is obsolete and cannot run on the current Windows release, replacing it with a supported application may be the practical resolution.

The loader may be unable to find a dependency required by wzgdip32.dll, or the application may be searching a different directory. Reinstall the parent application and verify the executable path.
Will sfc /scannow restore the file?
