Two unofficial homebrew projects are being reported for modified PlayStation 5 consoles: Overdrive, a game-library and store project, and PSBox, a client for Xbox Cloud Gaming. This is not an official Game Pass launch on retail PS5s. Their advertised features—including 1080p streaming at 60 frames per second—have not been independently verified.
What has appeared on modified PS5s?
An October 13, 2026 report by Dmitry Krivov for iXBT Games, citing Insider Gaming, describes two separate projects for modified PS5 hardware: Overdrive and PSXBOX, also called PSBox in the project documentation. They have different purposes: one is presented as a game library or store, while the other is a client for streaming games through Xbox Cloud Gaming.

The report says Overdrive’s catalog included Battlefield 6, 007: First Light, Forza Horizon 5, and Black Myth: Wukong. Those are examples reported by the outlet, not an independently checked catalog or confirmation that the games can be acquired or played reliably through Overdrive. How Overdrive and PSBox differ

The distinction matters: Overdrive is described as a local library/store, whereas PSBox streams from a cloud service. They are not interchangeable storefronts, and the report does not establish that either project is an official route to install Xbox or PlayStation games on an ordinary console.

What PSBox says it can do—and what remains unverified
The PSBox maintainers describe support for browsing the Xbox cloud catalog, streaming at 1080p and 60 frames per second, and using DualSense controls. iXBT Games also reports those resolution and frame-rate figures, while warning that the applications’ real capabilities and reliability have not been verified. No independent test protocol, broad compatibility results, or supported PS5 firmware matrix is provided in the report.
Accordingly, 1080p60 should be read as a reported or developer-described capability, not a measured result readers can expect on every console, network, or game. The available information also does not establish that all listed games are available through the client in every region or at all times.

Requirements and service caveats
The PSBox README says the client requires a homebrew-enabled PS5 capable of running directory-style apps. Its setup description involves copying the app folder into the PS5 homebrew directory and registering it with a loader. That is materially different from downloading a normal app through the PlayStation Store, and the project is not documented as an option for an unmodified retail console.

The maintainers explicitly state: “This is an unofficial project, not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Microsoft or Sony.” They also warn that Microsoft may change or block the services the client depends on. The disclaimer comes from the project itself, not from either platform company, and ongoing access could therefore change.
