Xbox Cloud Gaming already supports mouse and keyboard in select games; it is no longer a feature waiting to launch. The key limitation is that support is title-specific, and the available games and features can vary by platform, region, and Game Pass plan. Xbox reported more than 190 cloud games with mouse-and-keyboard support active on April 30, 2026, but that dated count is not a guarantee that a particular game—or every device—supports those controls.
Can you use a keyboard and mouse on Xbox Cloud Gaming?
Yes, in compatible games. Xbox began publicly rolling out the feature on May 15, 2024, through Edge and Chrome at xbox.com/play. Its announcement said support would also roll out to the Xbox app on Windows PC for games marked with a mouse-and-keyboard badge. The initial rollout named 25 titles, but that was a launch list, not the current catalog. Xbox’s May 2024 announcement described the feature as beginning to roll out that day.

On April 30, 2026, Xbox reported “190+ games with mouse and keyboard support active on cloud.” That figure is Xbox’s dated update, not a verified live total for October 2026. The same update named six additions for April: Amazing Maze, Dragonkin: The Banished, Easy Delivery Co., Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf, Super Meat Boy 3D, and Sword and Fairy Together Forever. Only games that support the inputs can use them. Check the current Xbox game listing for the specific title and look for its mouse-and-keyboard support information or badge; don’t rely on an older list or assume that a game playable in the cloud supports these controls. Xbox’s library and feature availability change, and support can vary by platform, region, and plan. Xbox’s Cloud Gaming page is the place to check the current game offering.

How to start playing with a mouse and keyboard
- Connect a compatible keyboard and mouse to your device. Xbox says wired USB mice and keyboards work in select games and apps; streamed games may have limited peripheral support, so confirm compatibility for both your device and game.
- Open xbox.com/play in a supported browser, sign in to your Microsoft account, and choose a game that supports mouse and keyboard. Xbox lists Edge, Chrome, and Safari among supported browsers for play on the web.
- Start the game and use its keyboard-and-mouse controls. Xbox’s launch announcement said players could switch between controller and keyboard/mouse using a keyboard key or the Xbox button. The exact in-game behavior may depend on the title.
The March 25, 2024 Xbox Insider preview had browser-specific directions, including enabling preview features, entering fullscreen, clicking the stream to capture the pointer, and pressing F9 to exit mouse-and-keyboard input. Those were instructions for that early preview, not universal current requirements. Xbox’s March 2024 Insider notes describe that preview.
What device, account, and connection do you need?
Xbox’s current Cloud Gaming FAQ says an active Game Pass Essential, Premium, or Ultimate subscription and a supported game in a supported region are generally required. Select free-to-play games can be played with a free Microsoft account. Xbox lists Windows PCs, Apple and Android phones and tablets, Xbox consoles, select smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV, and select Meta Quest headsets among supported device categories. These broad cloud-play options do not mean mouse-and-keyboard controls work on every listed device; peripheral and game support can be limited. - Performance: Streaming quality depends on your connection, location, device, and other factors.
A wired USB keyboard and mouse are an option for select games and apps on Xbox and Windows devices, according to Xbox’s April 2026 update. Compatibility is not universal, so check the game and device you intend to use before buying or connecting peripherals.
