The Xbox Games Showcase took place digitally on June 8, 2025, followed by a separate The Outer Worlds 2 & Grounded 2 Direct. Its biggest stories were the reveal of the Windows-based ROG Xbox Ally handhelds, the world premiere of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, major Xbox release dates, and new or returning games from Square Enix, Atlus, Double Fine, Team Ninja and other studios.
This recap separates the main showcase from the follow-up Direct and distinguishes new reveals from ports, remasters, downloadable content, release-date announcements and game updates.

Major first-party announcements
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7
Treyarch and Raven Software formally revealed Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, set in 2035. Microsoft described a cooperative campaign, multiplayer and Round-Based Zombies. The announcement listed Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Battle.net, Steam, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, and confirmed day-one Game Pass availability.
Grounded 2
Grounded 2 moves the survival adventure to Brookhollow Park, adding new bugs and biomes, an Omni-Tool and rideable Buggies. It launched on July 29, 2025, in Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access rather than as a conventional version 1.0 release. Microsoft said it would be available day one through Game Pass and noted that the original Grounded had passed 25 million players at the time of the announcement. The sequel was developed with Eidos-Montréal.
Keeper
Double Fine’s Keeper, created by Lee Petty, is a third-person adventure about an awakened walking lighthouse accompanied by a seabird. Xbox announced an October 17, 2025 release date for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming and Steam, with Xbox Play Anywhere and day-one Game Pass support listed.

The showcase also promoted two historical multiplayer-beta weekends beginning June 13, 2025. That beta offer was time-limited and should not be treated as a current promotion.
Ninja Gaiden 4
Team Ninja and PlatinumGames showed new combat for Ninja Gaiden 4, introducing protagonist Yakumo and systems including weapon switching, obliteration techniques, Bloodbind Ninjutsu and Ninpo arts. Its announced release date was October 21, 2025, on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Steam and PlayStation 5, with day-one Game Pass support.
The Outer Worlds 2
The main showcase included a new trailer for The Outer Worlds 2, which was dated for October 29, 2025. Partner games and platform additions
Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade
Final Fantasy XVI was announced as immediately available on Xbox on June 8, 2025. “Available today” referred to that showcase date, not necessarily its current store status.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade was confirmed for Xbox later in 2025. It is important not to confuse this announcement with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Other new reveals and trailers

- The Blood of Dawnwalker: Rebel Wolves showed a new trailer for its dark fantasy action RPG; the appearance did not establish a release date.

- At Fate’s End: The creators of Spiritfarer revealed a new game. The recap does not establish a release window or complete platform list.
- Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf: The sequel received a new look rather than serving as a first reveal for a new franchise.
Updates, expansions and returning games
Not every trailer represented a new game. The showcase also covered Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants DLC, Sea of Thieves Season 17, updates for Fallout 76 and The Elder Scrolls Online, and the Age of Mythology: Retold – Heavenly Spear expansion. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 received release-focused attention and was among the titles Xbox identified for day-one Game Pass.
ROG Xbox Ally explained
The ROG Xbox Ally is not a traditional Xbox console in a handheld shape. It is a Windows 11 handheld PC made by ASUS in partnership with Xbox, with an Xbox-focused software layer. Both models can access native PC games, Xbox Cloud Gaming and Xbox Remote Play. The Xbox full-screen experience brings together installed games and libraries from Xbox, Game Pass, Battle.net and other major PC storefronts.
Specifications announced in June 2025
| Feature | ROG Xbox Ally | ROG Xbox Ally X |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | AMD Ryzen Z2 A | AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme |
| Memory | 16GB RAM | 24GB RAM |
| Storage | 512GB SSD | 1TB SSD |
| Battery | 60Wh | 80Wh |
| Weight | 670g | 715g |
| Other features | Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, Windows 11 Home | Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, Windows 11 Home and impulse triggers |
The standard Ally is the lower-specification and lower-capacity model for players who mainly want portable Game Pass and PC-storefront access. The Ally X adds memory, storage, battery capacity and a stronger processor for more demanding PC games, but it is heavier and may be unnecessary for lighter use.
Both devices remain Windows PCs. That means buyers should account for PC-game compatibility, storage management, battery life, launcher behavior and internet quality for cloud gaming or Remote Play. They also do not offer the same large-screen, sustained-performance or console simplicity as a home Xbox.
Best Value
- Tri-mode Connectivity: Wired for Xbox, 2.4G & Wired for PC, and Bluetooth for Android. The G7 Pro supports seamless connectivity across Xbox, PC, and Android. Effortlessly switch between modes using the convenient physical mode switch.
- TMR Sticks: The G7 Pro features GameSir's Mag-Res TMR sticks, combining Hall Effect durability with traditional potentiometer performance. This advanced technology delivers stable polling rates for smooth, drift-free gaming with low power consumption.
- Hall Effect Analog Triggers: The GameSir precision-tuned Hall Effect analog triggers provide unmatched smoothness and linear input for precise control. Featuring clicky Micro Switch trigger stops, gamers can easily switch based on their preferences.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate on PC: Experience ultra-responsive gaming with a 1000Hz polling rate on PC, available through both wired and 2.4G wireless connections. This ensures instantaneous input registration, reducing lag and optimizing your performance for the most competitive gameplay.
- GameSir Nexus App: The G7 Pro is compatible with the upgraded GameSir Nexus app, which brings a significant upgrade over the original. It introduces powerful new features such as gyro settings, stick curve adjustments, and button-to-mouse mapping, giving you deeper customization and more control than ever before.
Microsoft announced a holiday 2025 launch window in selected markets, including the United States, with expansion to other markets where ROG Ally products were sold. Because that was historical launch guidance, check the official Xbox product page or ASUS ROG Ally page for current price, stock, regional availability and specifications.
Game Pass, Play Anywhere and platform caveats
Day-one Game Pass titles confirmed in the recap
Xbox specifically identified these showcase titles for day-one Game Pass availability:
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 7
- Clockwork Revolution
- Gears of War: Reloaded
- Grounded 2
- Keeper
- Ninja Gaiden 4
- The Outer Worlds 2
- Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4
A game appearing in the showcase did not automatically make it a Game Pass title. Nor are Xbox Play Anywhere and Game Pass the same thing: Play Anywhere concerns cross-device ownership and play for qualifying purchases, while Game Pass concerns subscription catalog access. Game Pass is optional for games bought outright, although licensing, editions and catalog placement should be checked on the current official listing.
For current tiers and availability, consult the Xbox Game Pass page, Game Pass Ultimate page and PC Game Pass page.
Xbox’s 2026 preview
The closing message pointed toward a new Fable, the next Forza, Gears of War: E-Day and the return of a classic Xbox-era franchise. Microsoft did not identify that returning classic in the official recap, so there is no confirmed name to add without relying on speculation.
Verdict
The 2025 showcase was less a single blockbuster reveal than a broad statement about Xbox’s direction. It paired firm dates for Gears of War: Reloaded, Ninja Gaiden 4, Keeper and The Outer Worlds 2 with substantial partner news, including the Xbox arrivals of two major Final Fantasy games and the announcement of Persona 4 Revival.
The ROG Xbox Ally reveal was the strategic headline: Xbox presented gaming as a connected experience across console, PC, cloud, remote play and a Windows handheld rather than as a console-only ecosystem. The strongest practical takeaway is to classify each game individually. Some were new reveals, some were ports or remasters, some were updates, and only a specifically identified group received day-one Game Pass confirmation.
