Xbox Summer Sale: 2024 Dates, Discounts and What Was on Offer

The Xbox summer sale that matches this headline ran from July 18 to July 31, 2024, under the Microsoft Store Ultimate Game Sale name. It is over. Xbox Wire’s July 18, 2024 announcement offered up to 80% off select Xbox digital games and up to 65% off select PC games, with $10 off Xbox controllers. The original headline differs from the Xbox Wire title, so treat this as the closest official match rather than a word-for-word one.

Sale dates

Xbox Wire published its announcement on July 18, 2024, and said the sale started that day and ran through July 31, 2024. Its editor-in-chief, Joe Skrebels, summed up the event in one line: “The Microsoft Store Ultimate Game Sale runs from July 18 to 31, 2024.” As of October 2026, the sale has ended, and the 2024 announcement does not describe a continuing or repeat event.

What the 2024 sale offered

The announcement used three headline discount figures. Each applies to a selected group of products, not to the whole store.

Games named as examples

Xbox Wire named the following titles as examples. The announcement presented them as examples, not as a complete list of qualifying products:

#1 Best Overall

$100 XBOX Gift Card [Digital Code]

• THE PERFECT GAMING GIFT — Buy an XBOX Gift Card for yourself or a friend and let them choose the games, add‑ons, subscriptions, and accessories they want most.
• USE FOR GAMES & CONTENT — Redeem for thousands of digital XBOX games, from backward compatible classics to the latest new releases, plus DLC and in‑game currency.
• GAME PASS READY — Apply your balance toward XBOX Game Pass Ultimate to play new titles on day one* and access a library of hundreds of high‑quality console games.
• PRE‑ORDER & PRE‑INSTALL GAMES — Use your balance to pre‑order and pre‑download upcoming titles so you’re ready to play the moment they launch.
• NO FEES OR EXPIRATION — XBOX Gift Cards never expire and have no service fees, so your balance is ready whenever you are.

• Xbox games: EA Sports FC 24, WWE 2K24, and Forza Horizon 5
• PC games: Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Destiny 2: Legacy Collection, and Forza Horizon 5 Premium

The announcement does not establish that every edition or platform version of these titles was discounted, so check the product page of any game before assuming it was part of the sale.

Consoles and accessories

Xbox Wire also pointed to Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X console options and to PC accessories. The only hardware discount it put a figure on was the $10 reduction on Xbox controllers. This article has no verified discount amount for either console model, so do not assume a console price cut from that announcement.

Rank #2

• THE PERFECT GAMING GIFT — Buy an XBOX Gift Card for yourself or a friend and let them choose the games, add‑ons, subscriptions, and accessories they want most.
• USE FOR GAMES & CONTENT — Redeem for thousands of digital XBOX games, from backward compatible classics to the latest new releases, plus DLC and in‑game currency.

How to read “up to” discounts

“Up to 80%” means the largest reduction on any selected item, not the typical reduction. A title that carried 80% off would have been an exception within the selection, and the announcement does not publish a per-title breakdown. Historical discount levels for individual games are therefore not established by this announcement, and no “best deal” ranking can be drawn from it.

Finding current Xbox deals

Because the 2024 event has ended, the way to find a current sale is to check the official store directly:

Rank #3

1. Open the Microsoft Store website and go to the Xbox game deals page, titled “Deals Games on Xbox.”
2. Use the page’s filters for price, category, platform, and subscription to narrow the list.
3. Open each product page and confirm the price shown for your platform and region before buying, because listings and discounts change and can vary by country.
4. Check whether any Xbox controller discount is listed on the controller’s own product page, rather than relying on a past announcement.

The deals page shows whatever is live at the time you view it. It does not function as a record of the 2024 sale, and a listing that appears there does not confirm a future event.

What is not established

• Whether a 2026 Xbox summer sale is scheduled, and if so its dates and discount levels.
• The complete list of 2024 titles, editions, and platform versions included in the sale.
• Regional exclusions and the offer terms that applied to each product in 2024.

These gaps mean the 2024 announcement is a reliable record of what Xbox publicly advertised, but not a full inventory of what every buyer could have purchased.
