SEGA released the two-part game on February 12, 2026, for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. The official title is Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties; “Yaukuza 3 Gaiden” is not the name SEGA uses for the included story.
What is included in Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties?
The release brings together two distinct experiences: Yakuza Kiwami 3, a remake of the 2009 game, and Dark Ties, an all-new story centered on Yoshitaka Mine. SEGA described the package as “two games in one” in its February 12, 2026 release notice. That is the publisher’s description of the bundle; it does not establish a particular playtime or how the two parts compare in length.

Yakuza Kiwami 3: Kiryu in Okinawa
The remake revisits Kazuma Kiryu’s efforts to protect Morning Glory, the Okinawa orphanage he runs with Haruka after stepping away from leadership of the Tojo Clan. A government-backed resort plan threatens the orphanage, and the dispute expands into a Tojo succession struggle and political conspiracy, according to SEGA’s announcement.
Dark Ties: Mine’s story
Dark Ties follows Kiryu’s adversary Yoshitaka Mine before the events of Yakuza 3. SEGA says the story traces his transformation from startup entrepreneur to hardened yakuza. It is a distinct Mine-led addition, not simply another name for the remake.

What gameplay features has SEGA announced?
SEGA’s descriptions identify different combat approaches for the two stories. These are announced features, not independent assessments of how they play.

- Kiwami 3 side mode: “Legendary Baddie, Bad Boy Dragon,” a team battle mode involving a biker gang.
- Dark Ties combat: Boxing-centered combat and “Dark Awakening.”
- Dark Ties side mode: “Hell’s Arena,” an underground arena.
SEGA’s gameplay announcement provides the feature names and broad descriptions; it does not provide a game-specific playtime or sales figure.
