Ichiban Confections’ business-management minigame unlocks late in Chapter 5. It runs as a repeating cycle: assign employees and manage properties, complete four Open for Business sessions, then face a Shareholder Meeting. The business’s operating funds are separate from Ichiban’s personal cash, though meeting results can pay him a personal executive reward.
How the business-management cycle works
After you set up your properties and staff, Open for Business sessions run automatically. Their gains and losses change the company’s management funds, not the money Ichiban carries for personal use. Each period consists of four Open for Business sessions followed by a Shareholder Meeting.

- Prepare the company: Review property needs, assign employees, and address low happiness before opening.
- Run four sessions: Business results are applied to the company balance.
- Attend the Shareholder Meeting: Answer shareholder complaints with employee rebuttals and attacks.
- Review and adjust: Use the company’s results and available funds to plan staffing or property changes for the next period.

How to staff properties effectively
Every property displays thresholds for Product, Service, and Notability. The assigned leader contributes across all three areas; other assigned employees contribute to the area associated with their slot. Check that your team covers the displayed thresholds rather than choosing employees by one impressive stat alone.

- Cover each threshold: Compare the team’s contributions with all three needs on the property screen.
- Keep the bench lean: Employees who are not assigned still add surplus labor costs, so a large unused roster can drain funds.
- Watch happiness: Unhappy employees work less effectively, may leave, and are less powerful in shareholder meetings. Use Auto Care or individual care when morale needs attention, especially before operating sessions or a meeting.

Choosing and improving properties
Properties differ in business type and sales potential. A higher-potential property can also demand more Product, Service, and Notability, so compare its requirements with the staff you can afford before buying or upgrading. An upgrade may improve sales potential while raising one or more of those thresholds.

- Budget for employees or further upgrades if the new thresholds exceed your current team’s coverage.
- Consider smaller properties when they are easier to staff or complement a higher-potential business.
There is no universally best property or employee lineup established for every stage of progression: the sensible choice depends on available funds, your roster, property requirements, and the strategy you prefer. SEGA’s overview notes that property type and potential, staff ability, and available funds all matter.
How to beat shareholder meetings
Meetings are real-time complaint-and-rebuttal battles. Shareholders raise complaints; you select employees to rebut using matching attributes and spend command points to do so. A color advantage breaks a shareholder’s guard, creating an opening to attack their resolve. You succeed by persuading every shareholder before time runs out or by keeping support at or above 50%.

Use the color counter cycle
The three employee attributes follow this cycle: red (people) beats green (money), green beats blue (facilities), and blue beats red. Identify the complaint’s color, then use an employee with the advantageous color to break the shield. Bring employees who cover all three colors so you are not stuck without an answer to a particular complaint.
Spend command points with a plan
After a shareholder’s guard breaks, use attacks to reduce resolve. Watch each employee’s command cost as you choose rebuttals and attacks; a powerful response can leave you short of points for the next complaint. Employee happiness also helps meeting strength and command-point recovery, making morale relevant beyond business operations.

Use Ichiban’s apology skill when it helps
Ichiban’s apology meter fills during the meeting. SEGA calls the skill “謝罪の極み,” commonly rendered “Essence of Apology,” and says it can calm shareholders. PC Gamer describes stronger effects at higher meter tiers. Choose the timing and tier based on the meeting’s situation rather than treating one tier as universally optimal.

Operating funds belong to the company and cannot be spent as Ichiban’s personal cash. After a Shareholder Meeting, Ichiban receives an executive reward personally; SEGA says the amount varies with the meeting result. Business management can therefore earn personal yen, but there is no fixed reward amount established for every meeting.
