Yellow Wind Sage is the final boss of Chapter 2 in Black Myth: Wukong. The key is to manage stamina around his wind pressure: keep enough in reserve to evade, punish only after his attacks finish, and avoid chasing every reposition. An optional item called the Wind Tamer is worth preparing for before the fight, though it is not a substitute for careful timing.
How to prepare for Yellow Wind Sage
Consider completing the optional route to obtain the Wind Tamer before entering the encounter. A current independent boss guide recommends preparing for and using it against the Sage, but does not establish that it guarantees an easy win or that the fight requires it. If you choose to attempt the boss without the item, the same core approach still applies: preserve stamina, avoid overcommitting to attacks, and wait for openings rather than forcing damage.
How to handle the fight
Keep stamina available
Do not spend your entire stamina bar on an attack sequence. Holding some in reserve gives you room to evade when the Sage commits to a melee attack or applies wind pressure. If you find yourself unable to dodge, shorten your attack strings and allow stamina to recover before pressing in again.

Punish completed attacks
Watch for the end of a weapon string or another clear recovery window before attacking. Use a short punish, then return to a defensive position. The guide’s advice is to distinguish the Sage’s melee commitments and wind pressure from the brief openings they leave; trying to hit through every animation risks losing the stamina needed to respond.
Do not chase every reposition
When the Sage moves away, resist the urge to spend stamina rushing after him. Let the encounter settle back into a range where his next action is easier to read. This makes it simpler to respond to the next attack and preserves stamina for evasion.

Should you get the Wind Tamer?
The choice is between taking time to prepare for the optional item or entering the fight without it. The boss guide recommends the preparation route and using the Wind Tamer, particularly as part of managing the encounter’s wind pressure. It provides no measured comparison for route time, win rate, or difficulty, so the practical trade-off is preparation versus personal preference: take the detour if you want the suggested counter available; skip it if you would rather attempt the fight with stamina management and punish windows alone.
