Use an interactive map to find and track points of interest across The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s Surface, Sky and Depths. For a broad, filterable overview, Game8’s map lists categories including 15 Skyview Towers, 120 Shrines, and 197 Caves and Wells; those are counts shown by its listing, not independently verified totals. If you want a phone app with offline maps, Tears Companion’s App Store listing describes maps for all three layers and filters for many point types.
What an interactive map can help you find
Maps for Tears of the Kingdom can bring together shrines, Skyview Towers, caves and wells, Dragon Tears, dragons and other collectibles. The useful difference is how each map organizes those markers: some emphasize a large category list, while others provide layer controls, filters or progress tracking. No source here establishes that every map is exhaustive or recently updated, so treat a marker list as a navigation aid rather than a guarantee that every location is included.
Counts are map-specific
Game8’s interactive-map listing shows 15 Skyview Towers, 120 Shrines and 197 Caves and Wells. These are categories and counts displayed by Game8, not independently verified totals. Polygon’s shrine-map guide reports 120 Surface shrines and 32 Sky Island shrines; it is a separate guide and its publication year is not confirmed in the retrieved copy. Polygon’s shrine map is useful when you want shrine locations organized by region.
How to choose a map
Compare the map’s layers and controls with the way you plan to play. A web map is convenient for checking a location while browsing; a companion app may suit a phone or offline use. The available descriptions do not establish that all maps offer the same categories or tracking features.

Why Skyview Towers matter to map navigation
Skyview Towers do more than provide a landmark. Nintendo Life’s guide explains that each tower unlocks part of the Purah Pad map and launches Link high into the sky. The guide says the corresponding Sky map is revealed as well. Visiting towers can therefore make the map more useful as you explore, rather than simply helping you locate one more marker. Nintendo Life’s Skyview Tower guide covers their locations.
Nintendo describes the Paraglider as essential for gliding from high places: “This item allows you to glide from points of high elevation.” That matters after a tower launch, because reaching a destination depends on gliding as well as seeing the terrain. Nintendo’s Beginning Your Journey guide introduces the item and the early journey.
Rank #2
- Ultrahand: Using the new Ultrahand ability, Link can pick up, move, and rotate almost any object, and can even attach objects together to create bridges, vehicles, and more!
- Fuse: Magically fuse almost any object to Link’s current weapon, shield, or arrow to increase durability, damage, or even add a new effect. Experiment with lots of different combinations to come up with surprising—and sometimes hilarious—results!
- Ascend: Add a new dimension to your exploration with Ascend, which gives Link the ability to pass through solid objects above him. Rise up through ceilings, hillsides, and even certain enemies to create seemingly impossible shortcuts.
- Recall: Use Recall to make objects in motion move backward through time, letting Link ride fallen boulders skyward, recover thrown weapons, or send projectiles back where they came from.
Finding shrines without relying on guessed coordinates
Polygon’s guide reports 120 shrines on the Surface and 32 on Sky Islands. Use its map or a named location guide to identify a shrine rather than relying on coordinates copied without a source: guides can differ in naming, coordinates and how much access detail they provide. Nintendo Life’s shrine guide includes coordinates and notes about cave access, which can help when a marker is not reachable directly from the surface. Nintendo Life’s shrine locations and maps offers that additional context.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Tracking caves, dragons and other points of interest
For caves and wells, dragons, Dragon Tears or nearby collectibles, enable only the categories relevant to the search if the map provides filters. That keeps dense areas easier to read and helps distinguish a cave entrance from an item marker. Check the map’s layer before following a marker: a point shown on the Surface may not be the destination if the target lies in the Sky or Depths.

- The Legend of Zelda - Tears of the Kingdom
The available map descriptions show that these categories appear in some listings, but they do not establish a definitive, authoritative list of every cave or dragon route. Use a location-specific guide for route or access details rather than assuming a map marker alone explains how to reach a site.
A practical way to use the map while playing
- Reveal the area. Visit Skyview Towers to unlock map coverage; Nintendo Life says towers reveal part of the Purah Pad map and launch Link upward.
- Select the correct layer. Switch between Surface, Sky and Depths where the map supports them, especially when a marker appears vertically separated from your current position.
- Filter to your goal. Show shrines, towers, caves and wells, Dragon Tears, dragons or collectibles as needed. Hide unrelated categories when available.
- Verify hard-to-reach locations. Consult a guide with access notes or coordinates for the named location instead of inferring a route from a marker alone.
- Track progress deliberately. If a map has a checklist, mark a point only after you have confirmed it in-game; features and saved progress can differ by map or app.
When a printed atlas is a better fit
Piggyback’s printed companion is described as an annotated Hyrule atlas with walkthrough and quest coverage across the Surface, Sky and Depths. It can be useful if you prefer a physical reference or want explanatory walkthrough material alongside a map. It is not a substitute for interactive filtering or a live checklist, and its current availability is not established here.
