They combine HoYoverse’s general crash guidance with PlayStation’s PS5 troubleshooting steps; they are not ten guaranteed or independently verified fixes for every ZZZ crash. Start with updates and a restart, then move to storage, Safe Mode, and reinstalling only if needed.
Before you start: identify the pattern
Note whether ZZZ crashes on startup, during a particular activity, or while connecting online. Record any error code and check whether other PS5 games crash too. This helps distinguish a problem limited to ZZZ from a possible console-level issue.
HoYoverse’s ZZZ crash, freeze, and black-screen troubleshooting article, updated October 13, 2025, is general guidance rather than a PS5-only checklist. PlayStation’s PS5 game launch troubleshooting and crash and freeze guidance cover console steps. Try the less disruptive checks first.
Try these 10 checks in order

Check for a ZZZ update
On the PS5 home screen, highlight Zenless Zone Zero, press the Options button, then select Check for Update. HoYoverse documents this PS5 path in its Version 2.6 update notice. If an update is available, install it and test the game again.

Check PS5 system software
Go to Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings and check for an update. PlayStation includes system software updates among its game launch and crash troubleshooting steps. Install an available update, then retry ZZZ.

Restart the PS5
Use the console’s power menu to restart, then launch ZZZ again. A restart is a simple first step in PlayStation’s launch guidance; it is not a diagnosis of the underlying cause.

Confirm ZZZ finished downloading and installing
If the game is still downloading or installing, let that process finish before launching it. PlayStation advises checking that the game is fully downloaded and installed when troubleshooting launch problems.

Move ZZZ from USB extended storage to console storage
If ZZZ is installed on USB extended storage, move it to the PS5’s internal storage and test again. PlayStation specifically recommends this for a game installed on USB extended storage; the recommendation does not mean you need to buy another drive.

Check PSN service status when the issue looks online-related
If ZZZ fails while signing in, connecting, or entering online play rather than closing unexpectedly in other situations, check PlayStation Network service status. This check is relevant to connection or service symptoms; it does not address every kind of crash.

Clear the cache and rebuild the database in Safe Mode
Follow Sony’s current Safe Mode instructions to use the Clear Cache and Rebuild Database options. Read each menu label carefully and do not select a reset option by mistake. These are PS5 maintenance options, not ZZZ-specific repairs.

Restore licenses if ZZZ will not start or access seems wrong
From the PS5, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses. PlayStation lists restoring licenses as a step for game launch or access issues. It is most relevant when the game will not start or access appears incorrect, rather than as a general remedy for every in-game crash.

Reinstall ZZZ if the earlier checks do not help
Delete the game and download it again from your game library. PlayStation recommends redownloading a game when launch troubleshooting has not resolved the problem. Reinstalling one game is different from resetting the console; do not jump to a console reset as an early step.

Contact the right support team
If only ZZZ is affected, contact HoYoverse Customer Support about a possible game-specific issue. If multiple games are crashing, or you see broader console problems, contact PlayStation Support. Include the crash timing, error code, steps that reproduce it, and a short video if practical. HoYoverse also asks for your UID, device model or specifications, and ISP; PlayStation asks for error details and reproducible steps or video.
When not to reset the console
A PS5 reset is a late-stage option, not the next step after one ZZZ crash. PlayStation warns that resetting erases stored console data. If support recommends a reset, back up data first and follow PlayStation’s instructions. Resetting system software is also distinct from reinstalling ZZZ.
If you try ZZZ on another device
Playing on PC or mobile may help you determine whether the problem is limited to your PS5, but it is not itself a PS5 fix. HoYoverse’s PS5 FAQ, published July 2, 2024, says progress syncs across PS5, PC, and mobile when the devices use the same server; progress on different servers does not sync.
