Build Lycaon to deliver reliable Stuns and useful team buffs, not to maximize his personal damage. The current guide recommendations favor a four-piece King of the Summit set when he can reach 50% CRIT Rate and the team benefits from its CRIT DMG buff, with Impact as his Disc 6 priority. Choose his W-Engine around your team’s needs for Daze, Energy, or damage support rather than assuming his signature is automatically best.

Lycaon is an S-rank Ice Agent with the Stun specialty, associated with Victoria Housekeeping Co. Guides describe his core contributions as building Daze, reducing Ice resistance, and increasing the Stun damage multiplier. That makes him a natural fit for Ice damage dealers, while his Stun and support role can also suit broader teams.

The recommendations below reflect specialist guides with different assumptions, not a universal ranking or an independently tested build. Prydwen’s guide was updated September 30, 2026; Icy Veins’ guide states May 30, 2026. Because character kits and equipment can change with patches, confirm details in the game and consult current guides when rebuilding after an update. HoYoverse’s February 3, 2026 notice says Lycaon’s combat-related database information was updated, but its accessible text does not give a detailed change list.

What is the best Lycaon build?

For most teams, Prydwen recommends four pieces of King of the Summit, paired with a two-piece set chosen for the stat or support effect you need. Icy Veins also recommends King of the Summit and names Shockstar Disco as its preferred two-piece pairing for Impact. This setup prioritizes Lycaon’s Stun role while adding a team CRIT DMG benefit when the wearer meets the set’s CRIT Rate condition.

Use the alternatives selectively: a support set can better match a particular rotation, while four-piece Shockstar Disco trades some team-support value for a Daze-focused approach. The right choice depends on your teammates, whether they benefit from CRIT, and what your existing discs can achieve.

Which Drive Discs and stats should you use?

Default set and its condition

King of the Summit’s four-piece effect, as described by Prydwen, grants a team CRIT DMG buff for 15 seconds; the buff increases when the wearer has at least 50% CRIT Rate. Prydwen notes that the set’s value depends on teammates benefiting from CRIT and that its passive cannot stack. Treat the 50% figure as a requirement for the stronger set effect, not a universal target for every Lycaon build.

For the two-piece slot, consider the following guide recommendations:

  • Shockstar Disco: Icy Veins’ preferred pairing when you want more Impact.
  • Swing Jazz or Moonlight Lullaby: Prydwen’s other suggested pairings for the general King of the Summit setup.

When to use another set

  • Astral Voice: Prydwen identifies it as a strong support option for teams that use Quick Assists.
  • Proto Punk: A niche option when the team frequently triggers Perfect Assists.
  • Four-piece Shockstar Disco: A Daze-focused alternative. Prydwen cautions that the additional Daze can be marginal compared with the team support you give up.

Main stats and substats

Disc Recommendation Why it fits
4 CRIT Rate, at least equal to CRIT DMG Helps build toward King of the Summit’s 50% CRIT Rate condition.
5 Ice DMG Prydwen prefers it over ATK% for this slot.
6 Impact Priority for Lycaon’s Stun role.

For substats, Prydwen prioritizes CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG, followed by ATK%, then PEN and flat ATK. Its level-60 endgame reference is 169–190+ Impact and 50%+ CRIT Rate for King of the Summit. These are guide targets, not mandatory thresholds for every team or gear inventory.

Which W-Engine should you use?

There is no single unconditional best choice across the reviewed guides. Their evaluations use different calculations and assumptions, so use the rankings as guidance and select for the team’s needs and your available gear.

Choice Guide assessment Best reason to consider it
Blazing Laurel Prydwen ranks it first in its September 2026 team-buffed ranking. Icy Veins calls it particularly strong in Ice or Fire teams. Team damage support, especially in the Ice or Fire team contexts noted by Icy Veins.
Ice-Jade Teapot Icy Veins recommends it as a generalist option when available. A broad option if you have it and do not need to solve a more specific Daze or Energy issue.
Precious Fossilized Core Prydwen lists it second in its team-buffed ranking and describes it as accessible and Daze-focused. Icy Veins also identifies it as an accessible F2P option. Daze output and accessibility.
Steam Oven Prydwen includes it among its leading options and describes it as useful for frequent EX Special use and Energy management. Energy management and a rotation built around frequent EX Specials.
Hellfire Gears Listed by Prydwen among its ranked options, after Steam Oven. Consider it if available; the guide summary does not establish a more specific advantage here.
The Restrained Prydwen ranks it after Hellfire Gears and says it fits Lycaon’s usual Daze sources poorly, despite being his signature W-Engine. Do not assume the signature is the best fit simply because it is Lycaon’s.

In practical terms, ask what your build lacks: more Daze, better Energy management, or team damage support. Then factor in availability and whether Lycaon can reach the CRIT Rate needed for King of the Summit’s stronger effect.

How should you play Lycaon?

  1. Apply his debuff: Use an Assist Follow-Up or EX Special to apply the Ice resistance reduction described in the guides.
  2. Build Daze: Continue using Lycaon to build Daze, with the aim of having him initiate the Stun when practical.
  3. Use EX Specials with the rotation in mind: Prydwen advises that repeated smaller EX Special uses can be more time-efficient than fully charging every EX, while helping maintain buffs.
  4. Adjust to the team: Rotation depends on the lineup, including how much Ice Anomaly buildup needs to be managed. Prydwen also describes the newer Encircle Prey mechanic as allowing Lycaon to contribute Daze while off field, which can call for team-specific rotation changes.

Who works well with Lycaon?

Ice damage dealers: Ellen and Miyabi

Ellen and Miyabi are natural partners. Lycaon’s Ice support can amplify their damage, and his Stuns create windows for them to deal damage. His set and W-Engine choices should still account for whether these teammates benefit from the CRIT DMG support and how the team manages its rotation.

Other options: Rina and Corin

Rina can fit a general Stunner/support shell, but Prydwen cautions that faction alignment does not make her Electric-focused bonuses directly useful in a non-Electric team. Corin is another potential partner in a Victoria Housekeeping or Physical setup.

How to adapt the build for a budget team

For a lower-resource build, keep the role intact rather than chasing a perfect set immediately: prioritize Impact on Disc 6, use a Daze-focused or accessible W-Engine if that best matches your needs, and add King of the Summit when you can support its CRIT Rate condition and your teammates can use the buff. Prydwen and Icy Veins both describe Precious Fossilized Core as an accessible option. A partial or practical setup is preferable to treating any ranking as mandatory when the gear is unavailable.
