GTA 5 cheats work in Story Mode only—not GTA Online. On PC, enter commands through the cheat console; on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, use button combinations or the in-game phone. Cheats let you change wanted levels, grant weapons, alter physics and weather, and spawn vehicles, but temporarily disable achievements and trophies for the current session.
Before using GTA 5 cheats
- Cheats are for single-player Story Mode, not GTA Online. Using mod menus or hacks online can result in sanctions. See Rockstar’s official guidance.
- You must reach the open-world section of a new game before entering cheats—practically, after the opening sequence when you begin controlling Franklin.
- Cheats are designed for free roam and may be blocked during missions, pastimes, or other restricted activities.
- PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC share the same phone-number cheats.
- PS3 and Xbox 360 support controller combinations, but not phone-number cheats.
How to enter cheats
PC console commands
During active gameplay, press ~—the key immediately left of 1 on a standard US keyboard. On some UK keyboards, use ¬. Type the command in uppercase exactly as shown, then press Enter.

Rank #2
- Experience the world of Grand Theft Auto V like never before with the power of the PlayStation 4.
- Explore the City of Los Santos, the countryside and even the ocean.
- Play through an epic single player experience using three very different characters.
- Join your friends in GTA Online and see what trouble you can cause.
- Play golf, tennis, see a film or call someone and just hang out.
Vehicle cheat requirements
Three vehicle cheats are unlock-gated:
- Duke O’Death: complete the “Pulling Favors” Strangers and Freaks mission.
- Dodo: complete the “Sea Plane” random event.
- Kraken: complete the Wildlife Photography Challenge.
A vehicle may fail to spawn if there is not enough clear space or the location is obstructed. Move to a broad, open area and try again.
Do cheats disable saving or trophies?
Saving remains available while cheats are active, but achievements and trophies are temporarily disabled. They are not permanently destroyed. Loading a save or rebooting the console resets active cheats and returns the game to its previous state.

- GRAND THEFT AUTO V When a young street hustler, a retired bank robber and a terrifying psychopath land themselves in trouble, they must pull off a series of dangerous heists to survive in a city in which they can trust nobody, least of all each other.
- GRAND THEFT AUTO ONLINE Discover an ever-evolving world of choices and ways to play as you climb the criminal ranks of Los Santos and Blaine County in the ultimate shared Online experience.
- THE CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE STARTER PACK The Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack is the fastest way for new GTA Online players to jumpstart their criminal empires with the most exciting and popular content plus $1,000,000 bonus cash to spend in GTA Online - all content valued at over GTA$10,000,000 if purchased separately.
- This game will no longer support Windows 7 or 8 operating systems starting January 30, 2024.
Rockstar says entering the same cheat will usually—but not always—disable it. For a reliable return to achievement- and trophy-eligible play, load a clean save or restart the game. Entering a cheat again does not by itself restore eligibility during the current session.
Missions also disable active off-mission cheats. If a code cannot be used, the game displays: “Cheat Denied: Cannot activate that cheat right now.”
Rank #4
- The biggest, most dynamic and most diverse open world ever created and now packed with layers of new detail.
- Grand Theft Auto V blends storytelling and gameplay in new ways as players repeatedly jump in and out of the lives of the game's three lead characters, playing all sides of the game's interwoven story.
- Grand Theft Auto V also comes with Grand Theft Auto Online, the dynamic and ever-evolving Grand Theft Auto universe for multiple players.
Cheat behavior and common mistakes
- Weather and slow motion are progressive: repeat the code to cycle through their available states and return to normal.
- No money cheat exists: there is no legitimate money code in Story Mode or GTA Online.
- No GTA Online cheats exist: these codes are not a safe or legitimate way to alter online gameplay.
- No Lamborghini spawn code exists: GTA 5 does not include a real-brand Lamborghini cheat; similarly styled vehicles must be obtained through normal gameplay.
- Phone codes are not universal across old consoles: PS3 and Xbox 360 use button combinations only.
The documented cheat system and input paths remain the same in the current PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S tables reviewed through August 7, 2026. Rockstar’s official behavior guidance is dated April 28, 2024; see Rockstar Support for the saving and achievement rules.
