avmc2032.dll is a 32-bit AVM CAPI 2.0 application library used by old AVM ISDN-controller software. If Windows reports that avmc2032.dll is missing, was not found, or could not be loaded, repair the AVM CAPI package or the older application that still expects it rather than downloading the DLL by itself.
The file is not a normal Windows runtime, Microsoft Visual C++ component, DirectX file, or .NET file. It is usually relevant to an AVM ISDN controller, FRITZ. communications or fax software, CAPI-over-TCP software, or a third-party application that uses the AVM CAPI interface.
Fix 1: Identify the program requesting avmc2032.dll
Time needed: 5–10 minutes
The filename alone cannot identify the exact AVM product that installed your copy. First determine which application displays the error.
- Note the complete error message and its window title.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Select Startup apps.
- Look for entries containing AVM, FRITZ, CAPI, ISDN, fax, or the name shown in the error.
- Right-click a likely entry and select Disable temporarily.
- Restart Windows and check whether the pop-up disappears.
If the message appears only when you launch a particular fax, dial-up, communications, or ISDN application, that program is probably the caller. If it appears during startup, check both Startup apps and installed programs.

To inspect installed software:
- Press Windows key + R.
- Enter
appwiz.cpland press Enter. - Review the list for AVM, FRITZ., CAPI, ISDN, fax, or controller software.
- Write down the AVM hardware model if it is shown.
Do not uninstall anything yet if you still use the AVM controller or a fax application. Identification determines which package must be repaired.
Fix 2: Repair or reinstall the owning AVM package
Time needed: 15–30 minutes, plus a restart
This is the most likely solution. AVM manuals describe the CAPI layer as the application interface supplied by AVM ISDN controllers and recommend reinstalling the controller software when CAPI DLLs are missing.
- Open Settings with Windows key + I.
- Select Apps, then Installed apps.
- Search for AVM, FRITZ., CAPI, ISDN, or the dependent fax application.
- Select the program’s More options button.
- Choose Modify, Repair, or Change if available.
- Follow the installer prompts.
- Restart Windows.
- Launch the original application again.
If no repair option exists, use the original AVM installation media or the official AVM package for the specific controller and Windows version. AVM has archived CAPI Port packages for older Windows releases, including Windows 7, Vista, XP, and 2000. These are legacy packages and should not be assumed compatible with every device or with current Windows 10 or Windows 11 installations.
For a full reinstall:
- Return to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Uninstall the AVM controller or CAPI package.
- Restart Windows when prompted.
- Install the matching package as an administrator. Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator.
- Connect or install the AVM controller only when the installer requests it.
- Restart again.
- Reinstall the dependent fax or communications application only after the AVM CAPI layer is working.
A successful repair normally means the original application opens without the DLL message and the AVM controller appears correctly in Device Manager.
Fix 3: Check the AVM device and its driver
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
An incomplete driver installation can leave an old application looking for CAPI files that are no longer available.
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand categories such as Network adapters, Modems, Other devices, and System devices.
- Look for an AVM, FRITZ., ISDN, controller, or unknown device with a warning icon.
- Right-click the device and select Properties.
- Read the message under Device status.
- Select the Driver tab and note the provider and date.
- Select Update Driver only if you have a compatible official package.
- Choose Browse my computer for drivers when installing a driver downloaded from the device’s official support source.
- Restart Windows after installation.
If the device is missing, select Action > Scan for hardware changes. If it still does not appear, shut down the computer, check the controller or adapter connection, and start Windows again.

Do not install a similarly named driver from another CAPI implementation. The correct package must match the AVM hardware and the application using it. Legacy ISDN hardware may not have a supported driver for modern Windows.
Manually searching through many old driver packages can be slow, especially when Windows reports only a generic device name. Security software may remove or quarantine an old driver library, particularly after a definition update or security cleanup.
In Windows Security:
- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Open any detection mentioning
avmc2032.dll. - Inspect the original path, detection name, and source.
- Restore or allow the file only if it came from a verified AVM installation.
Do not restore a copy obtained from an unofficial DLL website. If the file was downloaded separately, delete it instead of allowing it.
After verifying the source:
- Update Microsoft Defender definitions.
- Run a Quick scan.
- Reinstall the complete AVM package.
- Restart Windows and test the calling application.
If Defender detects the restored file again, leave it quarantined until the file’s origin and signature have been verified. A legitimate filename does not prove that a particular copy is safe.
Fix 5: Repair Windows components when servicing reports AVM corruption
Time needed: 15–45 minutes
Use this path when the error appears during Windows Update, an upgrade, system repair, or an SFC report, especially if servicing logs identify an AVM package such as avmisdnc.inf. It is less useful when only an old application is missing its private AVM installation.

- Save your work and close applications.
- Open Start and type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to finish. Do not close the window if progress pauses.
- Then run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Run Windows Update again or launch the affected application.
DISM repairs the Windows component store, while SFC checks protected Windows system files. These commands cannot recreate the complete services, configuration, and dependent files of an obsolete AVM application.

Repeating SFC and DISM without knowing what changed can make troubleshooting tedious. Outbyte PC Repair offers a free scan that identifies repair issues, while repair actions are handled by the full version; it is optional and does not replace reinstalling the AVM program that owns avmc2032.dll.
If DISM cannot find source files, use a matching Windows installation source with the appropriate /Source and /LimitAccess options, or continue with Microsoft’s documented Windows image repair procedure. On Windows 7, the modern /RestoreHealth procedure is not available in the same way, so do not treat failure of that command as proof that the AVM file itself is damaged.
Fix 6: Check 32-bit compatibility and file location
Time needed: 10 minutes
avmc2032.dll is reported as a 32-bit library. A 32-bit application may need it even when Windows itself is 64-bit.

- Check System type.
- Identify the application that requests the DLL.
- In Task Manager, right-click the application process if it is running and select Open file location.
- Check whether the application is an older 32-bit program.
Do not assume the file belongs in C:WindowsSystem32. On 64-bit Windows, 32-bit applications use the WOW64 environment, and Windows applies file-system redirection. The AVM installer and the application’s DLL search behavior determine the correct location.
Do not mix files manually between System32, SysWOW64, an AVM folder, and a third-party CAPI folder. A file with the wrong architecture or version may produce a different load error.
Is avmc2032.dll the same as CAPI2032.dll?
No. The names are related to the CAPI function, but similar names do not establish that the files are interchangeable.
AVM manuals refer to CAPI2032.DLL, while public file records separately identify avmc2032.dll as the 32-bit AVM CAPI 2.0 application library. Do not rename CAPI2032.dll to avmc2032.dll, substitute a third-party CAPI implementation, or copy a file from another computer. Reinstall the complete package that the calling application expects.

Do not use regsvr32 as a general DLL fix
Time needed: 2 minutes
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that provide registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. It is not a general command for installing runtime or driver libraries.
Do not run:
regsvr32 avmc2032.dll
unless the AVM installer’s documentation specifically requires it. Registration will not repair a missing dependency, wrong architecture, incomplete driver installation, or orphaned startup entry. It may simply produce another error.

Time needed: 10–20 minutes
If the AVM controller, fax software, and ISDN application are no longer used, uninstalling the obsolete caller is safer than restoring legacy drivers.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Uninstall the old AVM, FRITZ., CAPI, fax, or ISDN program.
- Restart Windows.
- Open Task Manager > Startup apps and disable any remaining entry related to that software.
- Check Task Scheduler for an obvious leftover task:
- Press Windows key + R.
- Enter
taskschd.msc. - Review Task Scheduler Library.
- Remove a task only when its name and action clearly belong to the uninstalled program.
- Restart once more.
If the error disappears and no required application stops working, the problem was an orphaned caller rather than a Windows-wide missing DLL.
Why random DLL downloads are unsafe
Do not download avmc2032.dll from a generic DLL site and copy it into a system directory. A downloaded file may have the wrong architecture, version, dependencies, or origin, and it bypasses the AVM installer’s device configuration and supporting files. It may also leave the original broken installation untouched.
Use original AVM installation media, the correct official AVM support or archive package, or a verified backup from the same computer. The exact current version, hash, size, and modern Windows support for this obscure file are not established here.
