To finish Forced Perspective: Capturing the Thief in Infinity Nikki, you line up a photo so the thief wanted poster appears to be locked behind the iron fence outside the Kingdom Guards’ Office in Florawish, then return the accepted image to Toran. The quest is a single composition challenge, not a choice-based task, so the whole job comes down to framing and waiting for the game to register the shot.
Before you start
- Prerequisite: Complete “Forced Perspective: Caged Bird” first. The wiki entry for “Capturing the Thief” lists it as the required prior quest and identifies this quest as the second in the Forced Perspective series. [Infinity Nikki Wiki]
- Quest type: It is a Florawish Random Quest, which the wiki associates with the Version 1.0 release. [Infinity Nikki Wiki]
- Location: Toran, the quest giver, is near the Kingdom Guards’ Office. A Gamer Guides entry directs players there from the Mayor’s Residence Warp Spire area by heading west. [Gamer Guides]
Step-by-step solution
- Speak to Toran near the Kingdom Guards’ Office. In his dialogue he says the best place to shoot this scene is the Kingdom Guards’ Office, but that he has never gotten a good shot. That is the cue for this photo challenge.
- Walk to the east side of the Kingdom Guards’ Office. The thief poster sits behind the iron fence on that side.
- Open the camera and frame the iron fence in the foreground. Align the view so the thief poster or warrant sits directly behind the bars, making it look like the thief is jailed.
- Hold the composition. Game8’s guide says to wait until the square target turns gold and the game displays “Jailed Thief” before pressing the shutter. Do not take the photo before that label appears.
- Return to Toran and show him the accepted photo to complete the quest.
If the thief does not register
Game8 gives a set of camera adjustments for cases where the framing will not lock onto the target. These are tips from that guide, not documented requirements of the quest, so treat them as options to try rather than fixed rules.
- Aperture: Set the aperture to f/16.
- Time of day: Set the in-game time to 10:00.
- Visual clutter: Hide Nikki, nearby NPCs, and Eureka effects from the camera menu so they do not block the poster.
The Game8 guide was last updated May 14, 2025. If the settings above do not match what you see in the current version, rely on the framing rule first: the fence must sit in front of the poster and the “Jailed Thief” label must appear before you shoot. [Game8]
Reward and turn-in
Return to Toran with the accepted photo. The Infinity Nikki Wiki entry lists the reward as 10 Diamonds and 3 Upgrade Packs. The wiki does not state the publication date of that reward list, so confirm the amounts in your own quest log when you complete it. [Infinity Nikki Wiki]
