Burning and Burgeon help generate points during the skill window, so reliable off-field Pyro can improve how often he reaches the cannon. For a practical default build, use four-piece Obsidian Codex, prioritize his Skill and Burst, and consider R5 Earth Shaker if you do not have his signature weapon.
When did Kinich release?
Kinich’s debut banner ran from September 17 through October 8, 2024, according to PC Gamer’s historical banner list. Those dates can be sensitive to region and time zone. This is his debut banner period, not an indication that the banner is currently active.
How Kinich’s kit and damage loop work
Kinich is a five-star Dendro Claymore character from Natlan. KeqingMains identifies his role as on-field DPS. His damage is concentrated in Elemental Skill attacks rather than his ordinary Normal Attacks.
- Use Canopy Hunter: Riding High to grapple to a nearby enemy and enter Nightsoul’s Blessing.
- Move around the grappled target. Kinich’s Normal Attacks become Loop Shots in this state; they count as Elemental Skill damage and help build Nightsoul points.
- Collect the generated Blind Spot when practical, and keep moving to maintain the loop. Time in the state and damage from Burning or Burgeon also contribute to point generation.
- When the point meter is full, fire the Scalespiker Cannon. Burning and Burgeon support can replenish points and affect how many cannon shots fit into the skill window.
- Use his Elemental Burst to summon Ajaw for Dendro damage. If used during Nightsoul’s Blessing, the Burst can extend the active state.
Because much of Kinich’s damage comes in a handful of attacks, missed inputs or awkward movement can cost output. Bennett’s Burst can also be inconvenient if Kinich moves beyond its limited area; whether that trade-off is acceptable depends on how you play.

What’s the best Kinich build?
For a straightforward damage-focused build, equip four pieces of Obsidian Codex, use an ATK% Sands, a Dendro DMG Bonus Goblet, and a CRIT Circlet, then balance CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, and ATK% through substats. Prioritize his Elemental Skill, then his Burst. His Normal Attack talent can remain unleveled for damage purposes: Loop Shots count as Skill damage and do not scale with the Normal Attack talent, as explained in the KeqingMains Kinich Quick Guide updated for Version 5.6.

Artifacts and team-set choices
Obsidian Codex is the default set for Kinich’s personal damage. KeqingMains considers it better for his own damage than having Kinich wear Deepwood Memories; if a teammate can maintain Deepwood’s effect, assigning the set to that teammate can support the team instead. Unfinished Reverie and Golden Troupe are alternatives listed in GenshinGuide’s June 2, 2026 recommendation summary.
Example stat targets
Icy Veins gives the following reference targets assuming decent artifact rolls and Earth Shaker: 45–55% CRIT Rate, 180–220% CRIT DMG, 2,000–2,300 ATK, and 120–130% Energy Recharge. Treat these as guide targets rather than mandatory breakpoints. Your weapon, team energy generation, and how often you need to use the Burst change the useful balance.

What is the best weapon for Kinich?
Fang of the Mountain King is Kinich’s signature weapon and KeqingMains’ strongest default option. Its Burning/Burgeon condition aligns with the reactions commonly used to support his Nightsoul point generation. You do not need it to build him effectively: R5 Earth Shaker is a competitive craftable alternative.
Other viable options named by KeqingMains include A Thousand Blazing Suns, Beacon of the Reed Sea, Verdict, Redhorn Stonethresher, Wolf’s Gravestone, The Unforged, and Serpent Spine. GenshinGuide’s June 2026 cross-source summary also includes Gest of the Mighty Wolf and A Thousand Blazing Suns among alternatives, and Earth Shaker among budget choices. There is no single precise ranking that applies to every account: refinement, shielding, team composition, and investment affect how weapons compare. These recommendations draw on guides with differing assumptions, including a KeqingMains guide labeled Version 5.6.

How should you build Kinich’s team?
Build around off-field Pyro if you want Burning or Burgeon to contribute to his point generation, then choose teammates for damage, buffs, or survival. A second Pyro character can help provide application while Kinich is on field.
- Mavuika: KeqingMains lists her as a powerful off-field Pyro option.
- Xiangling: A strong off-field damage and Pyro application choice, but she has high Energy Recharge needs.
- Bennett: A valuable ATK buffer, but not a source of off-field Pyro application on his own. His limited-area Burst may be awkward if you move Kinich widely around a target.
- Emilie: An option for additional damage and particle generation.
- Deepwood holder: Consider a teammate who can maintain Deepwood Memories so Kinich can keep Obsidian Codex for his personal damage.
These are team-building options, not a required four-character lineup. Retain off-field Pyro if it suits your account, add a buffer or another damage dealer, and include a sustain character if you need one.
Which materials does Kinich need for ascension?
GenshinGuide’s Kinich material list includes Nagadus Emerald, Saurian Claw Succulent, Overripe Flamegranate, and Natlan Fang materials. Its page identifies Sulfurous Veins as a Saurian Claw Succulent location, the Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King as the Overripe Flamegranate source, and Natlan Saurians as sources of Fang materials. Check the in-game Adventurer’s Handbook or local map markers for current locations and sourcing before farming, since game content can change.
