If EA Sports FC 26 crashes, freezes, or will not launch on PC, start with a restart, close unnecessary background apps, and repair the game through the EA app. Then follow the steps that match where the crash happens: a named Javelin anti-cheat error calls for EA’s error-specific guidance, while crashes during play may warrant graphics-driver, GPU-selection, or settings checks. No single step is guaranteed to fix every crash.
First, note when the crash happens
Before changing settings, record whether FC 26 fails before the EA or anti-cheat splash screen, during launch, in a particular mode, or during gameplay. Write down any error code and the name of any driver or application mentioned. These details help narrow the next step, but a symptom alone does not identify the cause.
Try reversible fixes first
Restart and close background apps
Close programs you do not need, restart the PC, and try launching the game again. Background software can interfere with games, including anti-cheat. EA’s general PC crash guidance recommends closing background applications and, if the problem continues, using a clean boot to check whether background tasks are involved: EA PC game troubleshooting.
Repair FC 26 in the EA app
- Open the EA app and select Library.
- Find EA Sports FC 26 and select Manage.
- Select Repair, wait for the check to finish, then try the game again.
If a restart, closing background apps, and repair do not help, EA’s general crash guidance also includes a clean boot, reinstalling the game and EA app, and trying a frame-rate cap or V-Sync. Treat these as later checks rather than assuming they address every crash; a clean boot can help identify software conflicts, while reinstalling takes more time.

Check Windows, graphics drivers, and GPU selection
Install available Windows updates. Use dxdiag and its Display tab to identify your graphics card, then check the card maker’s official support site for an appropriate driver update. EA’s graphics guidance covers Windows and graphics updates, dedicated-GPU selection on laptops, and lowering graphics settings when a PC is near minimum requirements: EA graphics troubleshooting.
- If you use a laptop: check Windows or your graphics software settings to make sure FC 26 is assigned to the dedicated GPU rather than integrated graphics.
- If the PC is near minimum requirements: lower graphics settings and close other programs while playing. Meeting minimum requirements does not mean the game will run well at the highest settings.
- If the crash happens during gameplay: EA’s general crash guidance suggests trying a frame-rate cap or V-Sync. Change one setting at a time so you can tell whether it affects the problem.
The available EA guidance does not establish exact current FC 26 PC requirements or a title-specific crash bug. Check EA’s current FC 26 information for requirements and known issues rather than attributing a crash to a particular patch or component without evidence.

Use the exact remedy for a Javelin anti-cheat error
If the error explicitly names EA Javelin anti-cheat, follow the instructions for that particular message or code in EA’s Javelin anti-cheat guidance. EA identifies corrupted files and conflicts with background software among possible causes; its guidance also covers incompatible applications or drivers and selected errors related to Windows security settings.
- If the message names an incompatible application or driver, first check for an update. If EA still blocks it, EA’s guidance may call for disabling that identified software.
- Some errors call for restarting Windows or enabling Secure Boot. Apply those steps only when the error guidance says they are relevant.
- EA discusses CPU microcode and recommended BIOS power settings for some CPU-related crashes. BIOS changes are conditional and can affect system stability; consult your PC or motherboard manufacturer’s instructions and follow the guidance for the specific error.
Do not disable unrelated security features or applications as a blanket fix. A Javelin-specific remedy is not a general answer to every FC 26 crash.

Install DirectX or Visual C++ components only when indicated
Missing Windows libraries can cause particular launch or installer errors, but reinstalling components is not a universal crash fix. For an error that matches EA’s DirectX guidance, check Windows updates and use Microsoft’s official DirectX End-User Runtime to provide missing libraries; see EA’s DirectX and EA app troubleshooting.
EA’s app-installer guidance points to missing Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables for specific installer errors. Use Microsoft’s official downloads and follow the relevant EA instructions rather than installing redistributables at random: EA app error-code guidance.

Create a DxDiag report if the crash persists
A DxDiag report gives support useful details about the PC and graphics setup. EA Help says: “The easiest way for us to check your PC’s hardware is for you to run a DxDiag report and attach it to your case or to a post on EA Forums.” Follow EA’s DxDiag instructions:
- Open the Windows Start menu, type
dxdiag, and run the tool. - Select the 64-bit DxDiag option if it is available.
- Review the report for the processor, memory, graphics card, graphics-driver version and date, DirectX version, and any listed error messages.
- Save the report so you can attach it to an EA support case or forum post.
When contacting EA, include when the crash occurs, the exact error text or code, your Windows version, your GPU and driver version, and the DxDiag report. That information is more useful than guessing at a cause.

If repairing the game and the relevant checks above do not resolve the issue, EA’s general PC crash guidance includes reinstalling the game and EA app. Reinstallation is more disruptive than repair, so use it after the quicker checks. If the failure is tied to a named Javelin error or a specific missing-component message, follow that error’s instructions rather than relying on a reinstall alone.
