The same reply said the fix did not cover disc or Steam installations. This is forum guidance, not a formal, complete patch announcement.
What the reported 2025 update fixes
The January 13, 2025 reply in an EA support discussion about The Sims 3 not opening on Intel Alder Lake CPUs describes a launch-compatibility fix for the EA app version. The reply says TS3.exe was patched and distinguishes it from TS3W.exe. It supports describing this as a fix for a particular launch problem—not as a broad gameplay update or a release of new content.

Because this information comes from a community support reply rather than formal Sims 3 patch notes, it does not establish a complete change list, a definitive publication record, or that every EA app installation has the fix.
Does the patch apply to EA app, Steam, and disc copies?
| Installation source | What the available guidance says | What to do with that information |
|---|---|---|
| EA app | The January 2025 EA forum reply says the Alder Lake launch issue was fixed for the EA app version. | If the game still fails to launch, the reply points EA app users to the app’s Repair function to restore the executable. |
| Steam | The January reply excludes Steam from the fix. A separate EA forum helper said Steam remained at version 1.67 in a June 2025 discussion. | Do not assume the EA app fix applies to a Steam installation. The 1.67 statement is a June 2025 snapshot, not a guarantee of Steam’s current version. |
| Disc | The January reply excludes disc installations from the described fix. | Do not assume that repairing or updating an EA app copy updates a separate disc installation. |
The version numbers should not be blended into a single platform-wide claim. A separate EA forum discussion refers to version 1.69.47, but the available information does not establish a complete, authoritative release history or show that every platform received that version.

How to troubleshoot the EA app version
- Confirm where your copy is installed. The reported Alder Lake fix applies to the EA app version; the forum reply says Steam and disc versions were not covered.
- Use the EA app’s Repair function. The January 2025 support reply recommends Repair for EA app users who need the executable restored. This guidance does not establish that the same repair applies to Steam or disc copies.
- Check EA’s official Sims 3 support hub. For PC or Mac installation and troubleshooting help, start with The Sims 3 support page from Electronic Arts.
Do not confuse it with the April 2025 Legacy patch notes
EA’s April 3, 2025 notes titled The Sims Legacy and The Sims 2 Legacy Patch Notes (Patch 7) cover those Legacy titles, not The Sims 3. They are not evidence of a Sims 3 update or its changes.
