The Sims 4’s free February 3, 2026 base-game update expanded family-tree relationships, added more flexible flared staircases, introduced new Create a Sim and catalog filters, and launched the Lost Legacies Event. EA listed PC version 1.121.342.1030, Mac version 1.121.342.1230, and console version 2.28. The event has ended, and EA issued a follow-up patch on February 19.
February 3 patch versions and release
EA released the free base-game update on February 3, 2026, under the label “Update 2/3/2026.” The platform versions in EA’s official patch notes are:
- PC: 1.121.342.1030
- Mac: 1.121.342.1230
- Console: 2.28
What changed in the February 3 update?
Family Tree recognizes more relationships
The Family Tree now labels and displays a wider range of extended relatives, including in-laws, half-siblings, step-relatives, great-grandparents, and cousins’ children. Players can choose whether adopted Sims are labeled as adopted. EA also changed the relationship labels “Divorced” to “Ex-Spouse” and “Deceased Spouse” to “Late Spouse.”
The update also prevents close relatives from being romantically involved, addressing autonomous flirting between relatives such as in-laws and step-relatives.

More control over flared staircases
Build Mode now lets players flare a staircase at the top or bottom, widening it symmetrically or asymmetrically. Builders can place a rail on just one side and use a slider to adjust the rail’s length. These are Build Mode options, not a separate object pack.
New Create a Sim and catalog filters
An Africana style filter makes it easier to find African-inspired items in Create a Sim and Build Mode. EA also added filters for Afro-textured and curly hair. Create a Sim received 12 new jewel-toned and metallic almond-shaped nail options.

The event centered on a royal treasure hunt, with lore involving the Dambele and Bellacorde families and Princess Cordelia. Quests took place across several venues, and weekly limited-time rewards were available during the event. EA’s stated play window ended March 16, 2026, so the event is no longer available.
Other dated kit releases
EA’s February 3 notes listed the Silver Screen Style Kit and Tea Time Solarium Kit for individual sale beginning February 12, with both included in the Royalty & Legacy Grand Bundle through March 15. The Wonderland Playroom Kit and Yard Charm Creator Kit were listed for February 26. These are historical release dates, not current availability information.

Bug fixes in EA’s February 3 notes
EA listed fixes across Live Mode, Build Mode, and Create a Sim. Examples include:
- Black photos, incorrect book covers on retail displays, and a Prom “Dance With Someone” goal that did not work correctly.
- A disappearing or unresponsive interface after entering and leaving Build Mode during Scenarios with goals.
- Great-grandparent romantic interactions with extended relatives and upgraded vacuums on Off the Grid lots.
- Room-type assignment problems and an extra board appearing on certain L-shaped staircases.
- Create a Sim controls that did not display, crashes while editing Merfolk or Aliens, and nail assets causing unwanted visual effects.
These are examples from EA’s listed fixes; the patch notes do not establish that every player issue was resolved.

The February 3 update was followed by another patch on February 19, 2026. EA listed PC version 1.121.372.1020, Mac version 1.121.372.1220, and console version 2.30 in its follow-up notes. That update addressed a freeze that could occur when Sims married in some save files and several Family Tree issues: overlapping portraits after a spouse’s death with a Secret Child, missing connections, portrait-selection highlighting, and freezes when clicking a Sim in some saves.

EA says it provided Python changes to help mod creators update genealogy-related mods. An EA Forums tracking thread for patch 1.121 describes the update as high impact, gives examples of reported broken or obsolete mods, and advises keeping a pre-patch save backup. Its tracking does not cover every mod or creator.

Before updating with mods installed, make a separate backup of your save and check current compatibility information from each relevant mod creator. The thread is a historical tracker, not proof that a specific mod is compatible now or that every mod will break.
