“Missing Clues” is the second quest in The Sims 4’s limited-time Blast from the Past event, following “A Strange Visitor.” To complete it, play The Sims Archives on a computer, find and open a Special Time Capsule, read its IOU, report to Emit Relevart, accuse three different Sims of being time travelers, then ponder time travel using a bathroom fixture.
The event has ended, so players can no longer start it or claim its unearned event rewards. EA announced the event as free and not requiring an extra pack; its regional FAQs give conflicting end dates, but both dates are in the past. EA’s event FAQ lists April 1, 2025 for English and March 18, 2025 for Spanish. EA announced the event on January 14, 2025.

“Missing Clues” quest walkthrough
Complete the objectives in order. The quest follows “A Strange Visitor,” and the event guides report Event Points for some tasks; those are in-game rewards, not requirements for the steps below.
- Finish “A Strange Visitor.” The event proceeds to “Missing Clues” after the introductory quest.
- Play The Sims Archives. On a computer, select Play Game > Play The Sims Archives. Do not select The Sims Forever; that is a different option.
- Find a Special Time Capsule. Search rocks or dirt mounds that offer Dig for Special Time Capsule. Choose that interaction, not ordinary Dig. Suitable spots can appear in any neighborhood. Magnolia Blossom Park in Willow Creek is one guide’s suggested search location, not a required one.
- Open the capsule. In your Sim’s inventory, select the Special Time Capsule and choose Open.
- Read the IOU. Find the IOU Note in inventory and choose Read IOU (also labeled Read IOU Note in a guide).
- Report to Emit. Find or summon Emit Relevart and choose Report about Time Capsule.
- Accuse three different Sims. Select Accuse of Being a Time Traveler on three separate Sims. They may react badly, and the interaction can lower relationship levels, so pick targets with care.
- Ponder time travel. Select Ponder Time Travel on a shower, bathtub, or toilet.

What to do if the capsule or IOU is missing
Check the household mailbox for an option to replace a lost Special Time Capsule or IOU Note. The guides differ on whether replacement costs money, so inspect the interaction for any displayed fee rather than assuming it is free.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Choose The Sims Archives, not The Sims Forever.
- At a dig site, use Dig for Special Time Capsule, not ordinary Dig.
- Use three distinct Sims for the accusation objective; accusations can harm relationships.
- For the final objective, use any shower, bathtub, or toilet that offers Ponder Time Travel. The guides give no quest-completion advantage to one type over another.
