Click the second “42” from the left on the bottom row. In the original The Impossible Quiz, Question 42 asks, “What is the answer to life, the universe, and everything?” but you must choose the 42nd displayed copy of the number—not just any 42.
Which 42 should you click?
Count every “42” from left to right, moving row by row from the top to the bottom. The target is the 42nd instance: the second “42” from the left on the bottom row. The screen contains 50 copies, so the number alone does not identify the right one.
Why is the answer 42?
The question alludes to Douglas Adams’s The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, in which the supercomputer Deep Thought gives 42 as the answer to life, the universe, and everything. The game uses that familiar answer to set up a separate counting trick: find the 42nd written “42.”
Which version is this answer for?
This location applies to Question 42 in the original The Impossible Quiz. It should not be assumed to apply to Question 42 in The Impossible Quiz 2 or other related quizzes, which have separate questions and mechanics.
