A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11The only stat reset Blizzard has officially explained is a launch-era console bug from October 2022. It made console-specific Career Profile stats reset after console matches because the system built them from the PC stats pool instead of the console pool. Blizzard said a fix was deployed for later console matches, but match statistics from October 4 through October 18, 2022 could not be recovered. If your stats disappeared recently rather than in that window, the 2022 bug is unlikely to be the explanation. Newer player reports describe profile display and aggregation problems that Blizzard has not confirmed as a current defect.
What Blizzard confirmed in 2022
On October 22, 2022, the Overwatch account posted in the official forums that it had found a bug resetting console-specific Career Profile stats whenever players played on console. The explanation given was specific:
“This bug was due to the statistics data initially using any PC pool stats to build on instead of console pool stats, even if a player does not play on the PC platform.” (Overwatch, Blizzard Entertainment, Addressing Career Profile Stats for Console Players, October 22, 2022)
The post said future console matches would store statistics correctly. It is the only official source in this topic that names a cause for a reset, so it is the reference point for any claim about why stats disappeared.

Which matches were lost
Blizzard identified console-specific matches played from October 4 through October 18, 2022 as the affected period. For those matches, the post said the following data was lost and could not be recovered:
- Win record
- Eliminations
- Damage and healing
- Averages and all-time bests built from those matches
Because the data was not recoverable, those matches do not appear in the current Career Profile. Blizzard also said that ongoing modes such as Quick Play and the Competitive Season in progress at that time would not reflect stats lost in the launch-window matches. The post said Blizzard was working to restore pre-Overwatch 2 stats to affected console accounts, but it did not publish an account-by-account restoration report. Anyone checking a current profile should treat the restoration as unconfirmed for their own account.

What the 2022 bug did not touch
The same announcement set the limits of the problem. According to Blizzard, the following were not affected:
- PC-pool stats, which the bug did not alter
- Current console skill tier and division
- Hidden matchmaking rating
- Previously earned heroes and cosmetic items
- Currency and Battle Pass progress
- Competitive Play qualification
These limits describe the 2022 incident only. They do not rule out a separate problem on an individual account.

Why stats look wrong today
Players have continued to report Career Profile problems since 2022. Those reports are useful for recognizing symptoms, but none of them is an official confirmation of a current widespread cause or a guaranteed fix. The table below sets out what each source establishes.
| Symptom | Where it was reported | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Console stats reset after console matches, for matches played October 4–18, 2022 | Blizzard’s October 22, 2022 post | Confirmed by Blizzard; matches described as unrecoverable |
| Merged PC and PlayStation account shows console play in Career Profile but does not add PC playtime and some other stats | Overwatch Forums, “Career Profile Stats Not Updating Correctly,” January 4, 2026, with replies in March 2026 | User report; replies suggested some stats appeared on Blizzard’s profile page but not in-game; no confirmed cause or prevalence |
| Career peak not reflected in current Competitive stats | Overwatch Forums, “Career Profile not tracking stats correctly,” July 29, 2025 | User report; no official confirmation |
| Playtime changes and duplicated mode entries on console | Reply in the same thread, September 2025 | User report; no official confirmation |
Merged accounts and launch-era guidance
Blizzard’s Overwatch 2 Known Issues post from October 25, 2022 listed console Career Profile updating as a known issue. In the context of account-transfer problems, it advised players who had played on multiple platforms to complete an account merge and log in again. That advice is dated to the launch period and was not presented as a fix for a stat-display problem that appears years later. Do not treat it as a general repair.

A troubleshooting checklist for a current problem
These steps help you sort a stats complaint into the category it belongs to. They gather information for a report to Blizzard Support; they do not repair the profile.
- Note the platform you played on. Check whether your account is merged across PC and console, because the merged-account reports above all involved that setup.
- Check the dates of the missing matches. If they fall between October 4 and October 18, 2022, they match the confirmed launch-window loss, and Blizzard has said they cannot be recovered.
- Define the scope. Decide whether the problem affects one hero, one mode, one season, or the entire Career Profile. A single-mode gap points to a different cause than a profile-wide one.
- Compare what you see in game with the Career Profile on Blizzard’s website. The January 2026 reports describe a gap between the two, so a difference between them is worth recording.
- Write down the exact numbers you expected and what you see, with dates and the platform, before you contact support.
- Contact Blizzard Support with those details and ask whether your account has a known data issue. Do not unlink or re-merge your accounts, and do not expect a restart to restore stats, since no official source supports either step as a fix for a current problem.
The verdict
The confirmed explanation for a stats reset is the October 2022 console bug. It is a documented, dated incident with a stated, unrecoverable loss window. Missing stats outside that window have not been officially explained, and the public reports describing them are individual observations. For those cases, the most accurate next step is to document the symptom and ask Blizzard Support about your account.
