When Fortnite Crew stops delivering, the cause is usually one of four things: a renewal payment that failed and put the subscription on hold, a subscription billed by a different platform than the one you are checking, a subscription that has already lapsed, or a Xbox Game Pass Ultimate benefit that has not been redeemed. The fastest route to a fix is to establish where Crew was bought, because that decides which company can change the billing and which company can restore the benefits.
Start with the platform where Crew was purchased
Fortnite Crew is managed by the store that sold it. Epic lists these purchase routes: Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Epic on PC and mobile, the Apple App Store, and the ONE store. Renewal dates, payment methods and cancellation all follow the original route, so a subscription bought on PlayStation will not be changed from an Epic account page, and the reverse is also true.

If you are unsure which route applies, check two places:
- The Subscriptions tab in your Epic account. Purchases made through Epic appear here with their billing details.
- Your bank or card statement. A charge labelled with Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, Apple or ONE store points to that store as the billing owner, even if you play on PC.
Check the subscription status and next billing date
Fortnite itself shows the current state of Crew. To see it:

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
- Redemption: Online
- Open Fortnite and select Passes.
- Select Fortnite Crew, then Manage Subscription.
- Select Cancellation Info. The next billing date appears on this screen.
For subscriptions bought through Epic, the next payment date is also shown in the Epic Games Launcher and on the Subscriptions page of your Epic account. For subscriptions bought through another platform, select Manage subscription instead, and the platform’s own settings take over from there.
Fix a payment hold
The most common cause of a Crew subscription that suddenly stops giving rewards is a failed renewal. Epic’s payment help page gives this on-screen message for the situation:
Rank #2
- Redeemable on accounts in the United States and in U.S. Dollars.
- Gift card must be redeemed at EpicGames.com/redeem. This gift card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly on a console device (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc.)
- If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
- Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms
- Redemption: Online
“Your rewards are temporarily on hold as there was an issue with processing your payment.”
While the subscription is on hold, the V-Bucks grant, Crew Pack items and Battle Pass access stop until the payment problem is resolved. The hold is a pause, not a cancellation, so the fix is to clear the payment failure rather than to start over.

If Crew was bought directly through Epic
- Confirm that the payment method on the account has enough funds for the renewal amount.
- Cancel the current subscription.
- Resubscribe with a valid payment method.
- Wait 24 to 48 hours after resubscribing for the charge to process. Epic’s guidance gives this window for charge processing; it is not a guarantee that rewards return within that time.
If Crew was bought through PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo
Epic directs the player to the platform for payment or funding help. The store that holds the billing relationship can see the failed charge, update the payment method, and confirm the renewal. Epic’s account pages cannot change that billing for you.
Diagnose missing benefits through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate
If Crew reaches you through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, the subscription can be active while the benefits still do not appear, because the benefit has to be linked and then redeemed. Check these items in order:

- Redemption: Online
- Account link: the Xbox account must be linked to the Epic account used for Fortnite.
- Subscription status: the Fortnite Crew subscription must be active. If it is inactive, Epic directs you to Xbox Support.
- Monthly sign-in: sign in to Fortnite at least once a month on a supported route. Epic lists an Xbox console, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming and supported gaming handhelds.
- PC installs: if you use Game Pass Ultimate on PC, install Fortnite through the Xbox app for PC, then sign in so the benefit is redeemed.
After canceling or switching platforms
Cancellation stops future renewals but does not end benefits early. Access continues until the current billing period finishes, and Epic does not refund the period you have already paid for. To move Crew to another platform:
- Cancel the subscription on the platform where it was first purchased.
- Check the expiration date in Cancellation Info or in the platform’s subscription page.
- Wait until the subscription expires.
- Subscribe on the new platform.
Subscribing on the new platform before the old subscription expires can leave you with two active billing relationships, so it is worth waiting for the date.

Match your symptom to the cause
| What you see | Most likely cause | Who fixes it |
|---|---|---|
| The rewards-on-hold message | A renewal payment failed | Epic for Epic-billed Crew; the purchase platform for other routes |
| Crew is no longer listed as active, and the next billing date has passed | The subscription expired or was not renewed | Resubscribe on the original platform |
| Crew is active but Battle Pass or V-Bucks are missing | Benefit not yet delivered, or a hold is in effect | Check the hold message first; if none, follow the Game Pass checklist when that route applies |
| Crew is active on Game Pass Ultimate but no benefits appear | Account not linked, or no supported sign-in in the past month | You, by completing the link and sign-in; Xbox Support if the subscription itself is inactive |
If the steps above do not resolve it
Have these details ready before you contact support, because they decide which team can act:
- The platform where Crew was purchased
- The subscription status and next billing date shown in Cancellation Info
- The exact on-screen message, including any payment wording
- Whether the Xbox account is linked, if you use Game Pass Ultimate
- Which benefit is missing: V-Bucks, Crew Pack items or Battle Pass access
Epic’s payment-hold guidance does not state a publication date, and the official material reviewed does not publish a failure rate for Crew renewals, so the steps above describe how to diagnose your own account rather than how often each cause occurs.
