An Act change or Competitive rank reset should not send your VALORANT account level back to 1. Riot says account level carries across Acts and is separate from rank. If yours suddenly shows level 1, check that you’re signed into the Riot account with your original progress. If you recently transferred shards, contact Riot Player Support: Riot’s published pages give conflicting information about whether account level transfers.
Does VALORANT account level reset every Act?
No. Riot says account level continues to grow based on time in-game and is not affected by Acts or Competitive rank. A new Act, placement matches, or a rank change therefore does not explain a level-one account under Riot’s published progression rules. Riot’s Account Leveling FAQ, attributed to DullMoment and dated August 7, 2025, describes how the system works.

How account levels are earned
Riot’s FAQ says players earn Account Points (AP) through matchmade games, with bonus AP for wins. Every 5,000 AP advances the account by one level; the Player Card border evolves every 20 levels. AP affects account level, not Battlepass or Agent Contract XP.
Riot introduced account leveling with Patch 3.0 in 2021. Its launch explainer says the initial level reflected matches played before the system arrived; that historical rollout does not establish a current reset rule. Riot’s 2021 account-leveling explainer gives the launch context.

Could a shard transfer reset your account level?
Riot’s guidance is inconsistent, so a transfer cannot be treated as a confirmed explanation without checking the specific account and route. The 2025 Account Leveling FAQ says a transfer to a different shard resets account level. However, Riot’s newer Account Transfer FAQ lists Account Level among the data transferred for most transfers and says all data transfers between the North America, LATAM, and Brazil shards. The two pages do not explain this discrepancy.
If your level changed after a shard or region transfer, tell Player Support which shards were involved and when the transfer happened. Don’t assume either that the transfer definitely erased your level or that it must have preserved it.

What to do if your account still shows level 1
- Check the signed-in Riot account. Confirm that the client is using the account on which you earned your original progress.
- Note any account or shard changes. Record when you first saw level 1 and whether you transferred shards or regions.
- Contact Riot Player Support. Use the “Submit A Ticket” route in the Account Leveling FAQ. Describe the change and include transfer details, if applicable.
Riot’s public guidance does not provide a client-side recovery procedure for an account that shows level 1 without an Act-related change. Player Support is the appropriate route to have the account record checked.
