If Nexus Mods will not load, first try the page in a private window or another browser, then temporarily disable browser extensions. If that does not help, compare another device and network. A login stuck at Cloudflare Turnstile and downloads that fail while the site itself works need separate checks. The cause of your problem cannot be determined from the symptom alone; check the Nexus Mods status page for current service health before assuming it is a site-wide outage.
First, identify what is failing
Note whether the whole site fails to open, a particular page or interactive feature is blank, login or registration stops at a verification screen, or the site works but downloads fail. Nexus Mods’ website troubleshooting guide covers problems including broken layouts, missing dynamic content such as graphs, tabs or search filters, login errors, frequent logouts, failed downloads and invalid downloaded file extensions.
This distinction matters: a download problem can involve the download service or mod manager even when ordinary pages load. A verification challenge is a narrower login issue, not necessarily a general failure to reach the site.
Try a clean browser session
- Open the same page in a private or incognito window. If you can, also test it in another browser. Nexus Mods lists Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera GX, Yandex, Chrome Mobile and Safari Mobile in its troubleshooting guide; check that guide for the current supported-browser list.
- If the page works in the clean session, temporarily disable browser add-ons in your usual session and try again. If that resolves the problem, turn extensions back on one at a time to identify which one conflicts.
- If the problem continues, review browser privacy and security settings, including cookie and tracking protections. Restore any settings you changed after testing if they were not the cause.
Nexus Mods identifies several possible sources of conflicts: JavaScript blockers, ad blockers, privacy extensions or settings, script injectors, third-party antivirus browser protection, VPN services, and Firefox Enhanced Tracking Protection. Depending on the setup, these can affect page layouts, interactive content, buttons, login or downloads. Their presence alone does not establish that any one is causing your issue. For Brave, Nexus Mods recommends disabling ads and tracker filtering for its site.

Compare another device and network
If browser tests do not help, try the same page on another device. Then, if available, switch networks—for example, from Wi-Fi to mobile data. If it works on the alternate network but not your usual one, Nexus Mods says you may need to contact your ISP. That comparison can help narrow the problem, but it does not by itself prove a specific ISP or routing fault.
If login or registration is stuck at Cloudflare Turnstile
Nexus Mods uses Cloudflare Turnstile on login and registration pages. Its Turnstile troubleshooting guide, last updated February 3, 2025, says legitimate users can occasionally be blocked. Try these checks:

- Refresh the page and retry.
- Set your device’s date and time to update automatically, then check that the clock is accurate. Nexus Mods identifies inaccurate system time as a common issue.
- Try a private window or disable extensions temporarily.
- Test with your VPN off, then on if needed. A VPN’s changing IP address can affect the verification challenge.
If you still cannot get through, contact support and include the error or a screenshot if useful.
If the site loads but downloads fail
Use Nexus Mods’ download troubleshooting guide rather than treating a download failure alone as proof that the website is down. The guide, last updated June 5, 2024, provides a CDN speed test and recommends checking whether the issue affects manual downloads as well as downloads through a mod manager.

- Run the CDN speed test and try a manual download to see whether the problem is limited to your mod manager.
- Check whether other downloads are using your connection, and make sure your mod manager is current.
- If the issue persists, the guide recommends collecting links for one small and one large sample download, plus a traceroute to
files.nexus-cdn.com. Include your country, ISP and expected connection speed when contacting support.
The guide notes that download speed can be affected by route quality, ISP conditions, connection quality and distance to the selected server. It also lists account-tier speed caps, but those policy figures may change; check the linked guide for current terms rather than relying on older caps.
Check for a current service incident
Check the Nexus Mods status page for live service health. A past high-traffic announcement described degraded site and application performance during unusually heavy traffic, but it is marked inactive and does not show that an outage is happening now. If the status page reports an incident, local browser changes may not resolve the underlying service problem.

Contact support with useful details
If the checks above do not resolve the issue, use the Site Support forum for help, website bug reports or account support. Before filing a bug report, check the forum’s Site Support section for an existing report.
For account registration, recovery or login problems, Nexus Mods’ account-access guide says to contact support from the email address associated with the account. Include your username, registered email address, a description of what happens and screenshots where useful. For other problems, describe the exact symptom and note which browser, device and network tests you tried.
