If the screen shows Error 901, Roblox has a separate same-network path. Work through the symptom you actually see rather than trying every fix at once.
Match the symptom to the cause
Roblox does not publish how often each cause occurs, so the table below is organized by what the screen reports, not by likelihood. Each row points to the first check Roblox’s documentation recommends for that symptom.

Fix the account side first
1. Match the age settings
Roblox states that its Xbox availability begins at age 10, and its support article says: “Roblox is available for ages 10 and up on Xbox, so please make sure your Xbox age settings exactly match those of your Roblox account.” Check the Roblox age in Settings > Personal inside Roblox, then check the Xbox age setting using Microsoft’s help pages for Xbox account settings. A mismatch is the first thing to rule out, and players under 10 need a parent or guardian to manage the account.
2. Confirm you are signing into the right Roblox account
On the Roblox home screen in the Xbox app, the options are Create Account, Sign In, or the signed-in Xbox gamertag. Choose Sign In for an existing Roblox account. If the console is signed in to a different profile than the one you intended, switch to the correct gamertag first, because the Roblox connection is tied to the profile that is active.

Sign-in requires the correct Roblox username and password. Roblox says Facebook Connect is not available through Xbox, so an account created with Facebook must be accessed through a Roblox username and password. If you are unsure of the password, reset it on Roblox before trying again.
3. Check whether the Roblox account is already linked
A single Roblox account can be linked to only one Xbox gamertag. If the account is attached to another profile, the new gamertag cannot take it over. To unlink, use one of these routes, and only when you can access the account involved:

- In the Xbox app, go to Home, press the X button, then select Settings > Account and choose “UNLINK [YOUR GAMERTAG].”
- In Roblox account Security settings, under Xbox, select Disconnect.
If you cannot sign in to the Roblox account that holds the link, neither route will work, and you will need Roblox Support to help.
4. Get parent permission for child accounts
For an Xbox child account, permission in the Xbox Family account is required before the Roblox app can be launched. A parent or guardian must approve the launch in the Xbox Family settings. If the child can sign in on other devices but not on the console, this missing permission is the most likely reason.

If the screen shows Error 901
Error 901 has its own path in Roblox’s support material, and it is different from the age, password, and linking checks above. Roblox recommends first logging in to Roblox on another device that is connected to the same home internet network, then trying to sign in on Xbox from that same network.
That test also separates two possibilities. If the account signs in on the other device but Xbox still fails on the same network, the problem is more likely local to the console. If the account cannot sign in anywhere, the linked Roblox account may be moderated. In that case, Roblox’s guidance is to contact Roblox Support about an appeal where it applies. Roblox cautions that submitting an appeal does not guarantee that a ban will be removed.

When to escalate to Roblox Support
If none of the checks resolves the problem, Roblox recommends first working through Microsoft’s Xbox app troubleshooting guidance, then contacting Roblox Support. Include the following so the support team can match the account quickly:
- The exact Xbox gamertag, entered in its case-sensitive form
- The Roblox username
- The full error message or code shown on screen, including whether it is 901
- Any recent changes to the Roblox account, the Xbox account, or your home internet connection
Check service status before assuming an account fault
When Roblox Status was checked on October 8, 2026, the Xbox App was listed as operational. That result is a point-in-time check. It does not show that your console, home network, or account is working, so use it only to rule out a wider outage. If several people on the same service report the same problem, check the live status page at status.roblox.com again before you change account settings.

The Xbox on PC and Microsoft Store app is a separate path
Xbox Wire reported on September 12, 2025 that Roblox launched an updated app for the Microsoft Store and Xbox on PC. According to that announcement, the app prompts users to link their Roblox and Microsoft accounts, and it supports sign-in with Microsoft credentials. Those PC steps do not replace the console steps above. If your problem occurs on a PC, check the linking prompts in that app first, and use the console guidance only for the Xbox console app.
