A Zoh Shia investigation in Monster Hunter Wilds is unlocked after you reach High Rank 50, clear Chapter 6-1, finish the Title Update 1 missions “An Unexpected Summons” and “A First Cry,” and speak with Werner in Suja. According to a Game8 guide last updated August 22, 2025, the investigation then appears at the Dragontorch in the Ruins of Wyveria. The spawn is random. The guide suggests resting in Inclemency at night as a setup, but it does not treat that as a guaranteed trigger.
What you need before the investigation can appear
The guide lists four requirements. It does not give a required order, so complete them in any sequence you can and confirm each one in your quest log.
- Reach High Rank 50.
- Complete Chapter 6-1 of the main story.
- Complete the Title Update 1 missions “An Unexpected Summons” and “A First Cry.”
- Speak with Werner in Suja.
Title Update 1 is the source of the repeat-hunt content. A Shacknews guide dated April 7, 2025 frames these repeat hunts as a Title Update 1 addition and notes that Zoh Shia had previously been fought only as the end-of-campaign boss.
Where the investigation appears
According to the Game8 guide, the investigation appears at the Dragontorch in the Ruins of Wyveria. You do not need to travel anywhere else to trigger it. Once the requirements above are met, rest at the Dragontorch and wait for the investigation to appear.

How the spawn behaves
The guide describes the spawn as random and offers the following as its own experience rather than a rule:
- Weather: Inclemency is the suggested weather.
- Time: Nighttime is the suggested time.
- Resting: Keep resting at the Dragontorch if the investigation does not appear. The guide says it may take longer than the typical few rests it describes.
Treat the Inclemency and nighttime setup as a way to improve your odds, not as a sure method. Neither condition is confirmed to force a spawn.
What is not established
- No spawn rate: No official spawn probability is available to cite, so any percentage you see online is unverified.
- Player success reports: Forum posts describing how quickly the investigation appeared after resting are personal experiences, not measurements.
- Later patches: The Game8 guide was last updated August 22, 2025, and Shacknews is dated April 7, 2025. Neither source confirms whether later updates changed requirements, optional-quest availability, or spawn behavior.
Investigation or SOS hunt: which route to use
The guide reports two ways into a Zoh Shia hunt. Generating your own investigation at the Dragontorch lets you control when you fight and lets you repeat it. An SOS hunt means joining a hunt another player has made available. The guide presents SOS as an alternative, but it does not provide availability rates or say which route is faster.

Checking your game before you rest for hours
Because the guides are dated, confirm the current state in your own game before spending time at the Dragontorch. Check the quest list for the Title Update 1 missions and for any Zoh Shia entry, and use the in-game weather forecast to see whether Inclemency is coming up at night. If the investigation does not appear after a reasonable number of rests, the guides cannot tell you whether a later update changed the trigger, so a changed requirement is a possibility you should account for.
